16. Study of Ξ-Hadron Correlations in pp Collisions at √s = 13 TeV Using the ALICE Detector
Sammanfattning : By colliding heavy nuclei at high energies, which is done at RHIC and the LHC, a strongly interacting Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) is created. This manifests itself through several different signatures, which until recently was thought to uniquely probe the QGP. LÄS MER
17. Rope Hadronization, Geometry and Particle Production in pp and pA Collisions
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns models of high energy collisions of sub-atomic particles, and the models’ implementation in numerical simulations; so–called Monte Carlo event generators. The models put forth in the thesis improves the description of soft collisions of protons, and takes the first steps towards a new, microscopic description of collectivity in proton collisions and collisions of heavy nuclei such as lead. 18. Experimental studies of particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about high energy heavy ion physics. Two major experiments, the WA98 at CERN and the PHENIX at Brookhaven National Laboratory, are described. Results from data analysis from both experiments are presented. The WA98 chapter presents particle identification methods and phi-meson measurements. LÄS MER
19. ALPACA - A kinetic theory Monte Carlo event generator for heavy ion collisions
Sammanfattning : Recent measurements of collective effect-like signals in small collision systems has highlighted the need for new models to explain these phenomena. One good candidate for such a model is the AMY QCD effective kinetic theory, which is valid for systems in- and out-of-equilibrium. LÄS MER
20. Electron-transfer processes in fast ion-atom collisions
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is experimental studies of electron-transfer processes in ion-atom collisions at velocities significantly higher than typical orbital velocities of electrons in bound states of atoms or molecules. The experimental technique applied combines the high beam intensity of heavy-ion storage rings with a supersonic gas-jet target equipped with a recoil-ion-momentum spectrometer. LÄS MER
