  1. 1. Protein Yield and Protein Isolate Quality when applying pH-shift Processing on Cod, Haddock and Blue Whiting Fillets- Effects of Replacing Centrifugation with Filtration

    Författare :Helgi Nolsøe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; fish; cod; protein yield; pH-shift processing; haddock; centrifugation; surimi; Protein isolate; filtration; blue whiting;

    Sammanfattning : A more sustainable fishery and a better utilization of the harvested fish raw material are currently of great importance to prevent overexploitation of our marine resources. Production of protein isolates to use for example as surimi has for many years been an important way of better utilizing low-value fish species and fish rest raw materials. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The dynamics in harvested populations

    Författare :Anders Wikström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluctuations; temporal; state-space; Harvest; cod; vendace; elasticity; stage-structured; stochastic; growth-rate; Baltic Sea; Bothnian Bay;

    Sammanfattning : We are interested in the effect of harvesting on population fluctuations and for that purpose we develop and analyze an age-structured model where recruitment is a stochastic process and the adult segment of the population is harvested. When a constant annual harvest is taken the coefficient of variation of the adult population increases for most parameter values due to the age truncation effect, i. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Developing and optimizing processes for biological nitrogen removal from tannery wastewaters in Ethiopia

    Författare :Seyoum Leta; Gunnel Dalhammar; Jes Ia Cour Jenson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; biological nitrogen and supphide removal; dntififying bacteria; nitrade-reducing; sulphuroxidizing bacteria; nitrate uptake rate; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In Ethiopia industrial effluents containing high contents of organic matter, nitrogen and heavy metals are discharged into inland surface waters with little or no pre-treatment. Significant pollution concerns related to these effluents include dissolved oxygen depletion, toxicity and eutrophication of the receiving waters. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal - Carbon Sources, Nitrate as Electron Acceptor, and Characterisation of the Sludge Community

    Författare :Magnus Christensson; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge; nitrate; carbon source; PAO; polyphosphate accumulating organisms; enhanced biological phosphorus removal; EBPR; characterisation; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) was studied in laboratory scale experiments as well as in a full scale EBPR process. The studies were focused on carbon source transformations, the use of nitrate as an electron acceptor and characterisation of the microflora. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Removal of organic micropollutantns from wastewater in a Swedish context

    Författare :Maja Ekblad; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wastewater treament; ozone; ozonation; pharmaceutical residues; Organic micropollutants; driving forces; drivers; avloppsvattenrening; ozon; ozonering; läkemedelsrester; organiska mikroföroreningar; drivkrafter;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their potential environmental risk, the abatement of organic micropollutants from wastewater has gained increasing attention in recent years. This thesis evaluates the use of ozone in Swedish wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and the incentives for full-scale implementation of organic micropollutant removal. LÄS MER
