21. Dispersing Carbon Nanotubes: Towards Molecular Understanding
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) exhibit unique and fascinating intrinsic electrical, optical, thermal or mechanical properties that lead to a plethora of potential applications in composite materials, electronics, energy storage, medicine, among others. However, the manipulation of nanotubes is not trivial and there are significant difficulties to overcome before achieving their full potential in applications. LÄS MER
22. Surface chemical studies on feldspar/quartz system using alkylamines and mixed (cationic/anionic/non-ionic) collectors : adsorption mechanisms and flotation selectivity
Sammanfattning : The mechanism of adsorption of long chain alkyl primary amines and, co-adsorption of amines and alcohols on quartz were studied using FTIR (DRIFT and IRRAS) and XPS spectroscopy methods. The spectroscopy data were correlated with zeta-potential and Hallimond flotation results. LÄS MER
23. Interaction of some molecules with complex surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the adsorption, decomposition and reactions of small molecules on flat, oxidised and vicinal surfaces of late transition metals. The main technique for these studies is high resolution core level spectroscopy (HRCLS). All the studies presented in the thesis are performed in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV). LÄS MER
24. Transformation/dissolution characteristics of cobalt and welding fume nanoparticles in physiological and environmental media: surface interactions and trophic transfer
Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles (NPs) and nanomaterials (NMs) are present everywhere in the environment. They can form both as an act of nature and during human activities. Various kinds of NPs and NMs are engineered for different applications in the ongoing development of nanoscience and technology. LÄS MER
25. Reactivity of Metal Clusters with Diatomic Molecules
Sammanfattning : The reactivity of transition-metal clusters, in the approximate size range 10-60 atoms, with diatomic molecules has been investigated. A pulsed beam of neutral clusters is produced by a laser-vaporization source and passed through a low-pressure reaction cell containing the reactive gas. LÄS MER
