   Sammanfattning : Ribokinase phosphorylates the abundant sugar ribose, using ATP in the presence of magnesium. The phosphorylation is the first reaction in ribose metabolism and the product, ribose-5-phosphate, can enter the pentose phosphate pathway and glycolysis.    Sammanfattning : The thesis arises out of a new find from Mörtträsket, Lapland, which can be compared with the eleven so called "Finds from Lapp Places of Sacrifice" from North Scandinavia, dated to c. 1000-1350.
