16. Human papillomavirus testing and its application in cervical cancer prevention
Sammanfattning : SUMMARY Because of the strong causal relationship between persistent infections of human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cancer, HPVtesting has been proposed for improvement of cervical screening programs, including triaging and follow-up after treatment for CIN. We developed two new methods for HPV-testing with genotyping: A high-throughput HPV genotyping method that uses mass spectrometry for detection of the products of type-specific mass extend reactions, and a method with particularly sensitive detection of a broad spectrum of HPV-types, also in the case of multiple infections, that uses type-specific probes coupled to fluorescent beads for detection on the Luminex platform. 17. Minimal conization with carbon dioxide laser for treatment of cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia
Sammanfattning : 3,100 non-pregnant women and 85 pregnants were miniconized during the 15-year period ending 1994 . The outpatient procedure of minimal conization using a freehand-guided, high power 60W carbon dioxide laser focused to 0.1 mm in spot-size, giving high power density 165,000 W/cm2, produces single-piece tissue specimens for histological examination. 18. Tissue tumor marker expression in normal cervical tissue and in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, for women who are at high risk of human papilloma virus infection, are smokers, contraceptive users or in fertile age
Sammanfattning : The aim of this research was to study the correlation between tissue tumor marker expression and HR-HPV infection, smoking, hormonal contraceptive use and sex steroids in women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or normal epithelium. The study investigated the expression of 11 tumor markers in cervical biopsies obtained from 228 women with different diagnoses ranging from normal cervical epithelium to various stages of CIN. 19. Networks in epigenetics
Sammanfattning : Networks are ubiquitous. It is only recently, we started exploring what purpose they serve in real world. Biological research supposedly has, and will be, benefited most from the network science because of inherent complexity embedded in its multilayered organization. LÄS MER
20. HLA predisposition to human papillomavirus induced cervical neoplasia : population based studies from the Västerbotten county in northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Infection with human papillomaviruses (HPV) types 16 and 18 is the major cause of cervical neoplasia. Although a high proportion of cervical cancers (CXCA) harbor HPV genomes, only a small number of women infected with high-risk papillomaviruses develop cervical tumors, suggesting that other environmental and/or genetic factors contribute to cervical carcinogenesis.
