    Sammanfattning : Gamma radiation in the environment today mainly originates from naturally occurring radionuclides, but anthropogenic radionuclides, such as 137Cs, contribute in some areas. In order to assess population exposure in case of fallout from nuclear weapons (NWF) or accidents, knowledge and monitoring of external gamma radiation and radionuclide concentrations in the environment is important.     Sammanfattning : Ultrasound Doppler velocimetry was used to predict fetal well-being. The uterine artery blood velocimetry seemed to be a good predictor of perinatal outcome in high-risk pregnancies and a complement to umbilical artery velocimetry. The fetal middle cerebral artery blood velocimetry might be an early sign of fetal hypoxia. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In this work we investigated fabrication of semiconductor nanomaterials and evaluated their potential for photo-chemical and photovoltaic applications. We investigated different II-VI semiconductor nanomaterial systems; (i) ZnO oriented nanowire arrays non-epitaxially grown from a substrate; and (ii) colloidal CdE (E=Te,Se,S) quantum structures synthesized by solution-based thermal decomposition of organo-metallic precursors.     Sammanfattning : Oxidative stress is a threat to our wellbeing. The formation of reactive oxygen species may result in oxidative lesions in DNA and RNA. When challenging A549 cells with 18O-labeled hydrogen peroxide, we found that RNA was between 14-25 times more sensitive to [18O]-8-oxoGuo formation than [18O]-8-oxodGuo formation in DNA. LÄS MER
