  1. 1. Pro- and anti-inflammatory actions in coronary artery disease : with focus on CD56+ T cells and Annexin A1

    Författare :Ida Bergström; Lena Jonasson; Eva Särndahl; Jan Ernerudh; Johan Frostegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : ¨The atherosclerotic process is considered to be driven by an imbalance between proand anti-inflammatory actions. Still, the inflammatory state in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) remains to be clarified. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immune cells in pregnant uterine mucosa : functional properties, cellular composition and tissue organization

    Författare :Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Sten Hammarström; Rolf Kiessling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunologically privileged site; TCR γδ cells; CD56 cells; large granular lymphocytes; immunosuppression; cytokine; interleukin; lymphoid cell cluster; intraepithelial lymphocytes; glandular epithelium; immuno electron microscopy; pregnancy; decidua; lactoferrin; lactoferrin receptor; colostrum;

    Sammanfattning : The pregnant uterus mucosa - decidua - is an "immunologically privileged" site. A semiallogeneic embryo is allowed to survive, develop, and grow while the same tissue implanted outside the uterus will be rejected. The decidua basalis, which participates in the placenta formation, is a tissue rich in lymphoid cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental studies of human fetal liver cells : in regard to in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Författare :Bim Lindton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :In utero transplantation; fetal liver cells; mixed lymphocyte culture; CD3; CD56; HLA class II; parvovirus B 19 capsids; corticosteroids; cytotoxic drugs; colony formation.;

    Sammanfattning : Successful in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation represents a potential step forward in the management of patients with severe inherited hematological, metabolic and immunological disorders. Animal data from a number of species have demonstrated evidence of engraftment, but to date the only effective in utero transplantations (IUTx) in humans have been performed in fetuses with severe immunodeficiencies, suggesting that the fetal immune system play a vital role in the success or failure of in utero transplantation. 4. 4. Innate and adaptive cellular immunity in chronic HCV and HIV-1 infection

    Författare :Veronica D Gonzalez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HCV; HIV-1; co-infection; adaptive immunity; innate immunity; NK cell; NKT cell; CD4 T cell; CD8 T cell; IFNalpha; ribavirin; immune activation;

    Sammanfattning : Viral infections are initially countered by an innate immune response as a first line of defence followed by an adaptive immune response. However, certain viruses successfully evade cellular immune responses and establish chronic infection. LÄS MER

  5. 5. HIV-1/HCV co-infection : immunity and viral dynamics

    Författare :Karolin Falconer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are the agents behind two viral epidemics causing huge morbidity and mortality worldwide. HCV infection is a leading cause of end-stage liver disease. LÄS MER
