  1. 6. B cell activation in vitro: thymus-dependent immune responses and bacterial cell surface proteins

    Författare :Karol Axcrona; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nuclear transport; bacterial Ig-binding proteins; CD40L promoter; CD21; Ig; B lymphocyte activation in vitro; CD40; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis aspects of peripheral B lymphocyte differentiation were studied. Through in vitro experiments, B lymphocyte activation was assessed. B lymphocytes express immunoglobulin (Ig) specific for a certain antigen on the cell surface, and when surface Ig is crosslinked by an antigen, the cell is activated. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The role of intestinal dendritic cells and the microbiota during oral Salmonella infection

    Författare :Maria Fernández-Santoscoy; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Salmonella; dendritic cells; NK-kB; MyD88; CD40; CD103; IRF4; microbiota;

    Sammanfattning : The intestinal pathogen Salmonella causes millions of infections per year worldwide. The immune response to these bacteria involves interactions between several cell types via specific molecules and is under the influence of the intestinal microbiota. Dendritic cells (DC) initiate immune responses including those to Salmonella. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Regulation of mucosal inflammation by fibroblasts

    Författare :Tanya (De L.) Karlson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :inflammatory bowel diseases; fibroblasts; CD40; C-EBPbeta; apoptosis; TGF-beta;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Acute inflammation in the bowel, a response of the immune system to infections or trauma, is probably a frequent but localized event, but when the barrier is repaired and the infection cleared, it is quickly followed by wound healing and resolution. However, in some individuals these mechanisms are not effective and the inflammatory bowel diseases, Crohn?s disease and ulcerative colitis result. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Intestinal IgA synthesis: Localization and requirements for IgA class switch recombination

    Författare :Peter Bergqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgA; Intestine; Gut associated lymphoid tissue; class switch recombination; CD40; germ free;

    Sammanfattning : Production of IgA at mucosal surfaces is one of the most striking features of the mucosal immune system. Despite that IgA was first discovered in the 1950’s and secretory IgA described in gut secretions and breast milk in the mid 1960’s we still have limited information about the sites and exact requirements for IgA class switch recombination. 5. 10. Modulation of Autoimmunity by Linomide treatment or interference with costimulation

    Författare :Annamaria C Tellander; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; collagen-induced arthritis; CD28; CD40; antigen presenting cells; Linomide; thymocytes; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Linomide is a potent immunomodulator that has been shown to inhibit autoimmunity in several animal models of autoimmune disease. We have approached the cellular and molecular mechanism of Linomide by investigating its effect on thymocyte development and its capacity to modulate the expression of activation markers on antigen presenting cells (APCs).
