1. CD19-targeting CAR T Cells for Treatment of B Cell Malignancies : From Bench to Bedside
Sammanfattning : Immunotherapy for cancer is a young research field progressing at high speed. The first chimera of an antibody and a signaling chain was designed by Zelig Eshhar and was later further developed to enhance existing T cell therapy by combining a single-chain fragment of an antibody with the CD3 zeta chain of the TCR complex. 2. Activation of human B cells with the Moraxella catarrhalis IgD-binding protein MID
Sammanfattning : Moraxella catarrhalis is a respiratory tract pathogen that causes significant health problems, including acute otitis media in children, lower respiratory tract infections in adults and the elderly and sinusitis in both children and adults. The interest in M. LÄS MER
3. Tumor-targeted superantigens for experimental immunotherapy of human leukemia/lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Bacterial superantigens (SAgs) have the property of stimulating high proportions of T cells expressing certain TCR Vβ sequences. The SAg first binds with high affinity to HLA class II molecules on the target cell and then stimulates the T cell to produce cytokines and to become cytotoxic. LÄS MER
4. The Ups and Downs of the Holocene: Exploring Relationships between Global CO2 and Climate Variability in the North Atlantic Region
Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to examine the relationship between climate and atmospheric CO2 concentrations through rapid climate changes during the Holocene. Climate was reconstructed using high-resolution, radiocarbon dated, lake sediment geochemical proxies (magnetic susceptibility, loss-on-ignition, total carbon/nitrogen/sulphur determinations and biogenic silica), vegetational reconstruction (pollen analysis) and stomatal frequency based CO2 reconstructions. 5. Stem and progenitor cell involvement in acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Sammanfattning : Leukemic stem cells (LSCs) share the capacity of self renewal and extensive proliferation with normal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and are therefore obvious targets for therapy. As such, they need to be identified and characterized in order to elucidate what drives them, and what separates them from their normal counterparts. LÄS MER
