  1. 6. Natural and induced idiotype immunity in patients with multiple myeloma

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Lotta Hansson; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myeloma; idiotype; vaccination; GM-CSF; IL-12; clonal B cells; T cell epitopes; signal transduction molecules; activation markers;

    Sammanfattning : There is a great need for development of new treatment alternatives for patients with multiple myeloma (MM). The idiotype (Id) immunoglobulin (Ig) expressed by the myeloma B cell clone might be regarded as a tumor specific antigen and as such a target for immunotherapy. LÄS MER

  2. 7. T cells in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM : An immunological study

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Shahryar Kiaii; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; T cell; B-cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia ; Multiple Myeloma ; signaling; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : There are several lines of evidence that T cells in patients with Multiple Myeloma (MM) and B-cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (B-CLL) are phenotypically aberrant. The overall aim of this thesis was to study T cells with a focus on TCR-signaling pathways in these two B-cell malignancies. The role of T-cells in B-CLL etiology was also examined. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Antigen presenting cells in autoimmune diabetes: phenotype, function and modulation by Linomide

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Eva Dahlén; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secreting systems; Endocrinology; Linomide; costimulation; TNF-a; dendritic cells; Diabetes; macrophages; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to better understand the role of antigen presenting cells (APC) in the development of diabetes in the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse. We have shown that DC and Mphi that infiltrate the islets of Langerhans produce tumour necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), a cytokine known to contribute to the pathogenesis in the early stages of diabetes development.
