16. Reactive arthritis : The human antibody responce elicited by Yersinia enterocolitica and Clamydia trachomatis
Sammanfattning : A central issue in the pathogenesis of reactive arthritis (ReA) is whether or not individuals developing arthritis have an aberrant immune response to individual antigens of potential triggering microorganisms. Although evidence exists that Yersinia and Chlamydia are two agents that precipitate ReA it has not been shown that these pathogens share common antigens. LÄS MER
17. Genital tract CD4+ T cells for vaccination and protection against Chlamydia trachomatis
Sammanfattning : Vaccination strategies for protection against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are lacking due to an incomplete understanding of genital tract T cell responses. This thesis dissects the generation of T helper subsets, including the recently discovered Th17 subset, during genital tract infection with a common sexually transmitted pathogen, Chlamydia trachomatis, and addresses vaccine requirements for the generation of genital tract CD4+ T cell immunity. 18. Regulation of Attachment and Early Intracellular Development of Chlamydia trachomatis in Eucaryotic Cells
Sammanfattning : The obligate intracellular bacterium, Chlamydia trachomatis , a common human pathogen, causing different diseases in both males and females, as well as in infants born to infected mothers. Occasionally, these diseases involve serious complications, such as blindness and infertility. C. LÄS MER
19. Chemical genetics discloses the importance of heme and glucose metabolism in Chlamydia trachomatis pathogenesis
Sammanfattning : Chlamydiae are important human bacterial pathogens with an intracellular life cycle that consists of two distinct bacterial forms, an infectious form (EB) that infects the eukaryotic host cell, and a non-infectious form (RB) that allows intracellular proliferation. To be successful, chlamydiae need to alternate between EB and RB to generate infectious EB’s which are competent to infect new host cells. LÄS MER
20. Pelvic inflammatory disease and epithelial ovarian tumors
Sammanfattning : Background: Epithelial ovarian cancer and borderline ovarian tumors consist of several histotypes in which high-grade serous carcinoma is the most common. The majority of epithelial ovarian tumors are considered to originate in the fimbriated end of the fallopian tubes. What initiates these tumors is far from completely understood. LÄS MER
