6. Rules of Thumb and Management of Common Infections in General Practice
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with problem solving of general practitioners (GPs), which is explored with different methods and from different perspectives. The general aim was to explore and describe rules of thumb and to analyse the management of respiratory and urinary tract infections (RTI and UTI) in general practice in Sweden. LÄS MER
7. Noninvasive evaluation of the effects of coronary artery bypass grafting on myocardial function
Sammanfattning : Coronary bypass grafting (CABG) is an effective treatment of patients with coronary artery disease and leads to an improvement in both cardiac symptoms and long-term survival. The effects of CA13G on global left ventricular systolic and diastolic function at rest and during stress, and the long-term effects on right ventricular function and their significance and relation to early graft occlusion and residual myocardial ischemia have however not been fully elucidated. 8. Fecal calprotectin in children with special reference to inflammatory bowel disease
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to study the clinical usefulness of fecal calprotectin as a noninvasive marker of colonic inflammation in children with suspected or confirmed chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Calprotectin, a calcium-binding protein predominantly expressed in neutrophils, is stable in feces for several days, and can be measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. LÄS MER
9. Hemostasis in middle-aged women with coronary heart disease
Sammanfattning : Inflammation and hemostasis play important roles in atherosclerotic disease. Chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to plaque vulnerability and rupture, and the subsequent thrombus formation is identified as the key mechanism in the pathogenesis of the acute coronary syndromes. 10. Design of a rapid point-of-care immunoassay : Based on a single-step non-competitive immunoassay with magnetic permeability detection
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of a one-step, specific, cost-effective and rapid in vitro point-of-care immunoassay test based on a unique magnetic immunoassay principle. The principle in question is based on a non-competitive heterogeneous immunoassay in a one-step analysis, relying on magnetic permeability detection. LÄS MER
