  1. 16. ”De två kulturerna” flyttar hemifrån : C.P. Snows begrepp i svensk idédebatt 1959–2005

    Författare :Emma Eldelin; Martin Kylhammar; Boel Berner; Thomas Kaiserfeld; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; “the two cultures”; C.P. Snow; Bildung; education; culture; science; Conceptual History; recontextualization of ideas; contemporary history; Sweden; ”de två kulturerna”; C.P. Snow; bildning; utbildning; kultur; vetenskap; begreppshistoria; idéers rekontextualiseringar; samtidshistoria; Sverige; History of science and ideas; Idé- o lärdomshistoria;

    Sammanfattning : I denna avhandling diskuteras hur begreppet ”de två kulturerna”, ursprungligen formulerat av den brittiske författaren, administratören och före detta naturvetenskapsmannen C.P. Snow, tolkades och användes i svensk idédebatt 1959–2005. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Äreminnen : Personmedaljer och social status i Sverige, cirka 1650–1900

    Författare :Martin Tunefalk; Mats Hallenberg; Mikael Alm; Joachim Östlund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Sweden; social status; pre-modernity; medals; commemorations; ideas about society; history of concepts; public sphere; discourse; symbolic capital; performativity; longue durée; 17th century; 18th century; 19th century; History; historia;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to study the waning of premodern ideas about society by investigating the ways in which social status was conceived. Analyses of linguistic expressions and negotiations of status are used to study changes in how different social groups related and acted on one another, what changed, and what remained constant as premodernity gave way to modernity. 3. 18. Evasion and Attack: Structural Studies of a Bacterial Albumin-binding Protein and of a Cephalosporin Biosynthetic Enzyme

    Författare :Sara Lejon; Janos Hajdu; Karin Valegård; Martin Noble; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human serum albumin; GA module; albumin-binding; Finegoldia magna; deacetylcephalosporin C acetyltransferase; cephalosporin C; antibiotic; beta-lactam; biosynthesis; Acremonium chrysogenum; X-ray crystallography; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the crystal structures of two proteins in the context of combatting bacterial infections. The GA module is a bacterial albumin-binding domain from a surface protein expressed by pathogenic strains of the human commensal bacterium Finegoldia magna. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Phase Phenomena in Polymer Networks : Empirical Studies on the Influence of Hydrophobicity, Charge Density and Crosslinks on Macroion-Induced Phase Transitions in Polyelectrolyte Gels

    Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns polyelectrolyte gels in contact with oppositely charged proteins and surfactant micelles, and includes of four papers (I-IV). In paper I confocal Raman spectroscopy was introduced as a method to trace micelles and investigate the structure of gel-surfactant complexes, in phase separated gel spheres. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Control Mechanisms of Electron and Proton Transfer in Cytochrome c Oxidase

    Författare :Martin Karpefors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cytochrome c oxidase is a remarkable molecular machine that is bound in the inner mitochondrial membrane or in the cell membrane of bacteria. Using the free energy that is released when electrons from foodstuff are transferred to molecular oxygen, protons are translocated from the inner to the outer side of the membrane. LÄS MER
