    Sammanfattning : Tumors are composed not only of malignant cells, but also of various types of normal cells, including vascular cells and infiltrating immune cells, which drive tumor development and progression. The tumor vasculature is abnormal and dysfunctional due to sustained tumor angiogenesis driven by high levels of pro-angiogenic factors. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Model systems of closed head injury are designed to replicate aspects of traumatic brain injury, ischemia and epilepsy in man. The aim of this thesis was to (1) develop sensitive systems enabling analyses of the biochemical reactions, as reflected by leakage of marker compounds to the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF); and (2) develop and assess a new model for closed head injury and associated dynamic changes in the brain cell.     Sammanfattning : Metal hydrides can be used as hydrogen storage materials for fuel cells and batteries, and as sensors for detecting hydrogen gas. The use of metal hydrides for hydrogen storage can be hindered by poor kinetics and low capacity. Moreover, poor sensitivity, long recovery and response time, limit the applications of metal hydrides as hydrogen sensors. LÄS MER
