  1. 1. Bystander Cells and Prognosis in Hodgkin Lymphoma

    Författare :Daniel Molin; Stephen J. Proctor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Hodgkin Lymphoma; Bystander cells; Eosinophilic granulocytes; Eosinophil cationic protein ECP ; Mast cells; Prognosis; Early and Intermediate stage; Onkologi; Hodgkin lymfom; eosinofila granulocyter; ECP; mast celler; prognos; tidiga och intermediära stadier; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is characterised histologically by a minority of malignant Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells surrounded by benign cells, and clinically by a relatively good prognosis. The treatment, however, leads to a risk of serious side effects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dendritic cells in cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Karin Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :vaccines; dendritic cells; αDC1; PGE2DC; natural killer cells; T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in the initiation and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses and have increasingly been applied as vaccines for cancer patients. Ex vivo generation and antigen loading of monocyte-derived DCs allows a controlled maturation, with the aim of imprinting different DC functions that are essential for their subsequent induction of a T cell-mediated anti-tumor response. 3. 3. Presentation of Salmonella antigens by dendritic cells

    Författare :Ulf Yrlid; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; antigen processing and presentation; Dendritic cells; Salmonella; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the interaction between dendritic cells (DC) and the Gram negative intracellular bacterium Salmonella typhimurium. Using in vitro and in vivo approaches, the capacity of DC to directly and indirectly present antigens from Salmonella-infected cells, cytokine production by infected DC, and activation of bacteria-specific T cells was analyzed. 4. 4. Single-Proton Irradiation of Living Cells - Development of New Tools for Low-Dose Radiation Research

    Författare :Natalia Arteaga; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lithography; UVL; EBL; SeACell; human hepatoma cells HepG2 ; reactive oxygen species ROS ; bystander effect; SU-8; cell recognition; cell irradiation; Single-Ion Hit Facility; low-dose; Fysicumarkivet A:2010:Arteaga Marrero;

    Sammanfattning : A Single-Ion Hit Facility (SIHF) consists of a custom-build facility based in particle accelerators which offers irradiation controlling the number of delivered particles with a precise targeting localization. The irradiation spot can be confined down to the nanometre scale allowing the irradiation of subcellular compartments with a single particle. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Allogeneic dendritic cells as adjuvants in cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Grammatiki Fotaki; Magnus Essand; Alex Karlsson-Parra; Di Yu; Tanja de Gruijl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allogeneic dendritic cells; immune primer; adjuvant; adenoviral vector; cancer immunotherapy; tumor microenvironment; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, immunotherapeutic approaches have achieved remarkable successes through checkpoint blockade antibodies, advances in the use of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells and new insights into the immunosuppressive role of the tumor microenvironment (TME). Through the advances, the role of cancer vaccines based on ex vivo manipulated autologous dendritic cells (DC) has been challenged. LÄS MER
