  1. 21. Evolution of host repertoires and the diversification of butterflies

    Författare :Mariana Pires Braga; Niklas Janz; Sören Nylin; Fredrik Ronquist; Alexandre Antonelli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coevolution; host-parasite interaction; inference; networks; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : All herbivorous insects are specialized to some extent to their host plants, but the level of specialization varies greatly. Insect-plant coevolution is often invoked to explain the large diversity of herbivorous insects, but the role of specialization during diversification is still controversial. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Ecology and evolution of genetic and phenotypic variation in fritillary butterflies

    Författare :Daniela Polic; Anders Forsman; Marjo Saastamoinen; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding how eco-evolutionary processes and environmental variation shape different dimensions of biodiversity is a major goal in evolutionary biology and ecology, and essential for the successful protection of biological variation. In this thesis, I used fritillary butterflies as model organisms to explore and further understand the origin and dynamics of genetic and phenotypic variation at different hierarchical levels of organisation and across different spatial scales. 5. 25. The evolutionary ecology of niche separation : Studies on the sympatric butterflies Leptidea sinapis and Leptidea reali

    Författare :Magne Friberg; Wiklund Christer; John N. Thompson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lepidoptera; ecological character displacement; reproductive isolation; species discrimination; habitat; host plant; life history; sexual selection; female choice; Biology; Biologi; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of ecology and evolution have become largely integrated, and increasing attention is paid to the role of ecology for speciation and post speciation divergence. In this thesis I have applied an in-depth approach studying the ecology of a butterfly species pair; the morphologically virtually identical sister-species, the Wood white (Leptidea sinapis) and Reál’s wood white (Leptidea reali).
