  1. 1. A path along deep learning for medical image analysis : With focus on burn wounds and brain tumors

    Författare :Marco Domenico Cirillo; Anders Eklund; Veronika Cheplygina; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deep learning; Medical image analysis; Burn wounds; Brain tumors; Image classification; Image segmentation; Image augmentation; CNNs; GANs;

    Sammanfattning : The number of medical images that clinicians need to review on a daily basis has increased dramatically during the last decades. Since the number of clinicians has not increased as much, it is necessary to develop tools which can help doctors to work more efficiently. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Long-term outcome after burn : Pruritus, pain, personality and perceived health

    Författare :Emelie Gauffin; Caisa Öster; Lisa Ekselius; Jyrki Vuola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Burns; Pruritus; Pain; Personality; Quality of Life; Health Status; Wounds and injuries; Patient Reported Outcome Measures; Rehabilitation; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated the role of burn-specific and individual-related factors for long-term outcome after burn with emphasis on pruritus, pain, personality and perceived health.Consecutive adult patients, admitted to the Uppsala University Burn Center between 2000 and 2009, were included. 3. 3. Pathogen colonisation, transmission and infection control measures in burn patients

    Författare :Marie Lindblad; Fredrik Huss; Jyrki Vuola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Whole-genome sequencing; Burn injury; Acinetobacter baumannii outbreak; infection control prevention; UVC decontamination;

    Sammanfattning : Burn patients are susceptible to infections due to impaired natural defences when the epidermal barrier is damaged. Moreover, the trauma affects the patient's immune system through local and systemic inflammatory reactions. Adding to that, the need for intensive care treatment with multiple surgical interventions increases the risk of infection. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Perceived Physical and Psychological Outcome After Severe Burn Injury

    Författare :Morten Kildal; Lisa Ekselius; Bengt Gerdin; Folke Sjöberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Burns; Outcome Assessment; Health Status; Quality of Life; Personality; Rehabilitation; Wounds and Injuries; Accidents; Coping; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : There is very little data on physical and psychological long-term outcome after severe burn injury. The aim of the present thesis was to improve current instruments for assessment of these issues, to assess long-term outcome in a cohort of patients with burn injuries, and to explore the contribution of the individual factors of personality and coping on perceived outcome. 5. 5. Large data and machine learning in analysis, diagnostics, and clinical decision making: applications in the treatment of burn injury

    Författare :Jian Fransén; Fredrik Huss; Johan Lundin; Yvette Andersson; Andrew Lindford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burn wound infection; Antibiotic susceptibility; Burn mortality; Machine learning; Burns; Burn assessment; Convolutional neural network; Artificial intelligence; Intensive care; ; Plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery; Surgery; Kirurgi; Machine learning; Maskininlärning;

    Sammanfattning : Burn injury is a common trauma globally. Large burns require fluid resuscitation, infection control, and specialized intensive care. The size of the burn and infections caused by resistant microbes are correlated to mortality, and accurate mortality predictions are important. LÄS MER
