  1. 1. Heated air gaps : a possibility to dry out dampness from building constructions

    Författare :Tord af Klintberg; Folke Björk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Water damage; convection; air gap; building; construction; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The air gap method is a modification of the common way of building indoor walls and floors. The aim of the method is to make a construction, less fragile to water damage, with air gaps where moisture can be removed with a thermally driven air flow, caused by a heating cable. The thesis includes a number of experimental studies of this method. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Sociological Approach to Indoor Environment in Dwellings : Risk factors for Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and Discomfort

    Författare :Karin Engvall; Dan Norbäck; Eva Sandstedt; Göran Strid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Indoor environment; Questionnaire; Atopy; Building age; Indoor air quality; Sick building syndrome SBS ; Validation; Dwelling; Energy conservation; Mechanical ventilation; Building dampness; Building reconstruction; Wood heating; Electric heating; Heat pump; Thermal Insulation; Sealing; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim was to study selected aspects of indoor environment in dwellings and their association with symptoms compatible with the sick building syndrome (SBS). A validated questionnaire was developed specifically for residential indoor investigations, using sociological principles and test procedures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Indoor Environmental Factors and its Associations with Asthma and Allergy Among Swedish Pre-School Children

    Författare :Linda Hägerhed Engman; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; epidemiology; Public health; children; validation; inspections; dampness; moisture problem; questionnaire; allergy; asthma; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; health;

    Sammanfattning : It has been shown in a large number of scientific studies that living or working in a building with mould and moisture damage increases the risk for asthmatic and allergic symptoms. However, there is a need to establish more valid methods to obtain a more nuanced picture of the wide range of different types of moisture related problems. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Indoor Environment in Dwellings and Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) : Longitudinal Studies

    Författare :Bo Sahlberg; Dan Norbäck; Berndt Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Indoor environment; sick building syndrome SBS ; dwelling; longitudinal cohort study; building dampness; mould; microbial volatile organic compounds MVOC ; biomarkers; asthma; risk factors; Arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : People spend most of their time indoors and mostly in the dwelling. It is therefore important to investigate associations between indoor exposure in dwellings and health. Symptoms that may be related to the indoor environment are sometimes referred to as the "sick building syndrome" (SBS). LÄS MER
