  1. 1. Human demographic history : Insights on the human past based on genomes from Southern through Central Africa

    Författare :Gwenna Breton; Mattias Jakobsson; Carina Schlebusch; Per Sjödin; Paul Verdu; David Comas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :high-coverage genomes; Sub-Saharan Africa; demography; genetic admixture; population genetics; human evolutionary genetics; Khoe-San; rainforest hunter-gatherers; Biology with Specialisation in Human Evolution and Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot människans evolution och genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Evidence from paleontology, archaeology and population genetics support that modern humans originated in Africa. While the out-of-Africa event and subsequent colonization of all continents are well documented, human history in Africa at that time and before is less studied. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Petrology and Geochemistry of the nakhlite meteorites : Tracking complex igneous and aqueous processes on Mars during the Amazonian

    Författare :Hélène Breton; University of Glasgow; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mars; Nakhlites; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching science question being addressed by this research project was the geological history of the nakhlite group of Martian meteorites as representative of a young Amazonian Martian crust. This included the magmatic processes and mechanism of emplacement at the origin of the meteorites but also the nature of a young Amazonian Martian aquifer that circulated throughout the nakhlites bedrock from its chemistry, origin and longevity. 3. 3. Scalable Analysis of Large Datasets in Life Sciences

    Författare :Laeeq Ahmed; Erwin Laure; Ola Spjuth; Ake Edlund; Vincent Breton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Big Data; Apache Spark; Virtual Screening; EEG; Cloud Computing; Life Sciences; Machine Learning; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : We are experiencing a deluge of data in all fields of scientific and business research, particularly in the life sciences, due to the development of better instrumentation and the rapid advancements that have occurred in information technology in recent times. There are major challenges when it comes to handling such large amounts of data. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Numerical Computations of Wakes Behind Wind Farms : A tool to study Farm to Farm interaction

    Författare :Ola Eriksson; Stefan Ivanell; Anna Rutgersson; Simon-Philippe Breton; Philippe Chatelain; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wind turbine; Wind power; Wind farm; Wakes; Long distance wakes; Farm-Farm; Farm to farm interaction; Wind farm cluster; Large Eddy simulations; LES; Actuator disc method; ACD; CFD; Ellipsys3D; Prescribed boundary layer; PBL; Forced boundary layer; FBL; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : More and larger wind farms are planned offshore. As the most suitable sites to build are limited these new wind farms will be constructed near to each other in so called wind farm clusters. Behind the wind turbines in these farms there is a disrupted flow of air called a wake that is characterized by reduced wind speed and increased turbulence. LÄS MER
