  1. 1. Mass Spectrometry-based Neuroproteomics : Deciphering the Human Brain Proteome

    Författare :Sravani Musunuri; Jonas Bergquist; Ganna Shevchenko; Jean-Charles Sanchez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brain; Proteomics; Mass spectrometry; Alzheimer s disease; Traumatic brain injury; Membrane proteins; Sample preparation; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Mammalian brain is challenging to study due to its heterogeneity and complexity. However, recent advances in molecular imaging, genomics and proteomics have contributed significantly to achieve insights into molecular basis of brain function and pathogenesis of neurological disorders. 2. 2. Frontotemporal dementia - symptoms and brain pathology

    Författare :Maria Landqvist; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; genetics; neuropsychiatric symptoms; protein pathology; clinical diagnosis; neuropathology; biomarkers; Frontotemporal dementia;

    Sammanfattning : Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is the clinical term for a heterogeneous group of dementia disorders with symptoms emerging from frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). FTD encompasses the behavioural variant (bvFTD) and the progressive aphasias: progressive non-fluent aphasia (PNFA) and semantic dementia (SD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Oligodendrocyte pathology following Traumatic Brain Injury : Experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Johanna Flygt; Niklas Marklund; Fredrik Piehl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Traumatic brain injury; oligodendrocytes; oligodendrocyte progenitor cells; interleukin 1-β; central fluid percussion injury; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by traffic and fall accidents, sports-related injuries and violence commonly results in life-changing disabilities. Cognitive impairments following TBI may be due to disruption of axons, stretched by the acceleration/deceleration forces of the initial impact, and their surrounding myelin in neuronal networks. 4. 4. Misfolded superoxide dismutase-1 in sporadic and familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

    Författare :Karin Forsberg; Thomas Brännström; Irina Alafuzoff; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALS; SOD-1 motor neuron; protein misfolding; intranuclear; antibodies; CNS; brain; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative syndrome of unknown etiology that most commonly affects people in middle and high age. The hallmark of ALS is a progressive and simultaneous loss of upper and lower motor neurons in the central nervous system that leads to a progressive muscle atrophy, paralysis and death usually by respiratory failure.
