22. Genetic Profiling in Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Sammanfattning : Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are a heterogeneous group of highly malignant mesenchymal tumors that account for ~1% of all malignancies. Frequent heterogeneity and pleomorphism along with suboptimal diagnostic reproducibility and insufficient prognostic markers make clinical management of these tumors difficult. LÄS MER
23. Improving radioimmunotargeting of tumors : the impact of extracorporeal immunoadsorption and preload in rats
Sammanfattning : In radioimmunotherapy of tumors, uptake of the monoclonal antibody (MAb) used is often too low in relation to its uptake in normal tissues. The purpose of these studies was to improve experimental tumor radioimmunotargeting with (a) extracorporeal immunoadsorption (ECIA), where excess of radiolabeled MAbs circulating in blood is removed, (b) or by preload with unlabeled MAb prior to injection of radiolabeled MAb, (c) or by a combination of these. 24. Estrogen receptor alpha and beta in breast cancer - gene expression profiles and clinical implications
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women in the Western world with about 10% of women developing breast cancer during their lifetime, of which one third will eventually succumb to the metastatic form of the disease. Breast cancer arises from the epithelial cells of the breast mammary gland, but the mechanisms involved in tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis are still not fully understood. LÄS MER
25. Chemoradiation in Gastrointestinal Cancer
Sammanfattning : Locally advanced inextirpable gastrointestinal cancer has poor prognosis and is associated with high morbidity. One treatment option is to use radiotherapy, often combined with chemotherapy (chemoradiation), either as preoperative treatment to facilitate surgery or in the palliative setting to relieve symptoms.
