11. Morcelised Impacted Cortico-Cancellous Bone Allografts in Revision Surgery for Endoprosthetic Loosening with Osteolysis
Sammanfattning : Revision total hip arthroplasty (RTHA) and filling of the bone defects with impacted particulated bone allograft is the concept that has been studied in this thesis. In three in vitro models, biomechanical aspects of morcelised and impacted bone allografts were studied. LÄS MER
12. The biological and physical performance of high strength dicalcium phosphate cement in physiologically relevant models
Sammanfattning : The chemical properties of calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) are very similar to the mineral phase of bone. CPCs are, consequently, very effective substrates (scaffolds) for tissue engineering; bone and stem cells attach readily, and can proliferate and differentiate to form new bone tissue. LÄS MER
13. Parathyroid hormone for bone repair and implant fixation - Experiment in rats
Sammanfattning : Intermittently administered PTH is known to increase bone mass in osteoporosis models. We studied its effects in bone repair and implant fixation, using histological and mechanical techniques in rats. LÄS MER
14. New polymer materials in total hip arthroplasty. Evaluation with radiostereometry, bone densitometry, radiography and clinical parameters
Sammanfattning : Aims: To evaluate the outcome of different types of polyethylene, bone cements and one design of uncemented fixation with porous and ceramic coating using radiostereometry, bone densitometry, conventional radiography and clinical parameters.Materials and methods: Study 1: 201 patients were extracted from 5 prospective randomised studies to evaluate femoral head penetration at two years with radiostereometry in four basic designs, cemented Lubinus and Reflection cups, uncemented Trilogy and Reflection cups. 15. Resorbable Bone Cement for Augmentation of Hip Fracture
Sammanfattning : Surgical treatment of hip fractures is frequently associated with secondary fracture displacement, in part due to weak osteoporotic bone. So far, improvements have focused on new metal implants although an alternative could be to augment the bone that surrounds the implant. LÄS MER
