16. Diffusion studies in gels using holographic laser interferometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation of the potential of holographic laser interferometry for the study of diffusion of both small solutes and macromolecules. An investigation on the importance of errors due to light deflection in refarctive index gradients showed that the magnitude of the refractive index gradients were negligible for the system investigated. 17. Kinetic modelling of runaway in plasmas
Sammanfattning : The phenomenon of runaway occurs in plasmas in the presence of a strong electric field, which overcomes the collisional friction acting on the charged particles moving through the plasma. A subpopulation of particles can then be accelerated to energies significantly higher than the thermal energy. LÄS MER
18. Thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors
Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis presents experimental and theoretical studies of the thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors including GaN, AlN, β-Ga2O3 binary compounds, and AlxGa1−xN, ScxAl1−xN, YxAl1−xN ternary alloys. Thermal conductivity measurements are conducted using the transient thermoreflectance (TTR) technique and the results are interpreted using analytical models based on the solution of the Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) within the relaxation time approximation (RTA). 19. Blood flow and cell transport in arteries and medical assist devices
Sammanfattning : The cardiovascular system is responsible for transport of nutrients, oxygen, as well as the cells and molecules making up the immune system. Through the hemostatic system, the body maintains the integrity of the blood vessels, and prevents bleeding. LÄS MER
20. Computational framework for studying charge transport in high-voltage gas-insulated systems
Sammanfattning : Electrical switchgear industry dealing with transmission and distribution of power is strongly affected by the changing dynamics of climate control. Their main contribution to the global warming is through SF6 gas, having a GWP of 23500 (times of CO2). SF6 plays an important role in providing electrical insulation for these high voltage systems.
