  1. 6. Characterization and Evolution of Transmembrane Proteins with Focus on G-protein coupled receptors in Pre-vertebrate Species

    Författare :Karl J. V. Nordström; Helgi B. Schiöth; Robert Fredriksson; Teresa Attwood; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; G protein-coupled receptors; GPCR; Membrane protein; Rhodopsin; Adhesion; Secretin; Evolution; Bioinformatics; Phylogeny; Pharmacological research; Farmakologisk forskning; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatics; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution;

    Sammanfattning : G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are one of the largest protein families in mammals. GPCRs are instrumental for hormonal and neurotransmitter signalling and are important in all major physiological systems of the body. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Quantifying Process Quality : The Role of Effective Organizational Learning in Software Evolution

    Författare :Sebastian Hönel; Morgan Ericsson; Welf Löwe; Anna Wingkvist; Miroslaw Staron; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Software Size; Software Metrics; Commit Classification; Maintenance Activities; Software Quality; Process Quality; Project Management; Organizational Learning; Machine Learning; Visualization; Optimization; Software Technology; Programvaruteknik; Informations- och programvisualisering; Information and software visualization; Computer Science; Datavetenskap; Statistics Econometrics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Real-world software applications must constantly evolve to remain relevant. This evolution occurs when developing new applications or adapting existing ones to meet new requirements, make corrections, or incorporate future functionality. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Evolutionary ecology of newts

    Författare :Jan C. Malmgren; Hanna Kokko; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; evolution; adaptation; amphibians; salamanders; predation; migration; sexual dimorphism; sex differences; behaviour; conservation; Biology; Biologi; Biologi med ekologisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : Sexual dimorphism, predator avoidance and migratory behaviour are adaptive traits that show variation at the population and species level. Such features respond to the environment in the broad sense, that is, when both abiotic and biotic components are included. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Island biogeography and population divergence in the Skyros wall lizard

    Författare :Anna Runemark; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Podarcis gaigeae; inbreeding; predation release; polymorphism; island gigantism; the island rule; genetic drift; sexual selection; natural selection; island biology; Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Islands are cradles for new biodiversity and provide natural laboratories for the study of population divergence. In my thesis, I investigated the role of different evolutionary processes in the population divergence in the Skyros wall lizard (Podarcis gaigeae), a species where islet populations have strongly diverged morphologies. 5. 10. The tempo and mode of evolution : a neontological reappraisal

    Författare :Melanie Monroe; Folmer Bokma; Pär Ingvarsson; Mikael Fortelius; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; birds; extinction; macroevolution; mammals; microevolution; punctuated equilibrium; speciation;

    Sammanfattning : The theory of “punctuated equilibrium” suggests that species evolve rapidly during or immediately upon speciation, “punctuating” long periods of little or no morphological evolution. Here I confirm that body size differences within clades of birds and mammals are best explained using a model of punctuated evolution. LÄS MER
