  1. 11. Population genomic analyses of regulatory variation and selection in Brassicaceae species

    Författare :Robert Horvath; Tanja Slotte; Peter Hambäck; Douglas G. Scofield; Matthew Webster; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capsella grandiflora; Arabidopsis thaliana; Arabidopsis lyrata; natural selection; gene expression variation; DNA and gene body methylation; transposable elements; DNA accessibility; gene expression noise; epigenetic silencing; linked selection; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The impact of selection on regulatory variation and the contribution of regulatory changes to phenotypic variation has long been debated in evolutionary genetics. Because cis-regulatory elements such as promoters and enhancers can be difficult to identify, it has been more challenging to quantify the impact of selection on variation in cis-regulatory regions than in protein-coding regions. 2. 12. The development of resource polymorphism – Effects of diet, predation risk and population dynamical feedbacks

    Författare :Jens Andersson; Lennart Persson; André M. De Roos; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :body shape; diet; geometric morphometrics; phenotypic plasticity; population dynamics; predation risk; resource polymorphism; size structured populations;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the evolution of individuals within a species adapted to utilize specific resources, i.e. resource polymorphism. Although a well-known phenomenon, the understanding of the mechanisms behind is not complete. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Evolutionary consequences of sex-specific selection

    Författare :Josefine Stångberg; Elisabeth Bolund; Elina Immonen; Jennifer Perry; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Caenorhabditis remanei; Callosobruchus maculatus; sex-specific selection; sexual selection; experimental evolution; intralocus sexual conflict; life history evolution; sexual dimorphism; trade-offs; Quantitative genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Sex-specific selection is widespread, evident by the evolution of sexual dimorphism in many traits in sexually reproducing taxa. The reason why the sexes may experience selection that differs in direction or magnitude is often linked to the reproductive strategies associated with the sex-specific reproductive physiology. 4. 14. Formation and Early Evolution of Planetary Systems

    Författare :Daniel Carrera; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; planet formation; planets and satellites: dynamical evolution and stability -- planets and satellites: gaseous planets -- planets and satellites: terrestrial planets; planets and satellites: terrestrial planets;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past 20 years we have discovered that exoplanets are common in the Galaxy, and are far more diverse than anyone expected. Half of all Sun-like stars are accompanied by at least one super-Earth (a planet with a size between Earth and Neptune), many planets have very high eccentricities indicative of a dynamical origin, and a small fraction of stars are accompanied by hot Jupiters, whose origin is poorly understood. 5. 15. Behavioural, physiological and morphological correlates of life-history in killifishes − a macroevolutionary approach

    Författare :Simon Eckerström-Liedholm; Alejandro Gonzalez Voyer; Björn Rogell; Alastair Wilson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brain size evolution; comparative analysis; life-history continuum; risk-taking behaviour; sexual selection; trade-offs; etologi; Ethology;

    Sammanfattning : Life-histories commonly evolve along a continuum from short-lived and fecund, to long-lived and less fecund. Because life-history traits are mostly components of reproduction and survival, understanding the causes and consequences of life-history variation is at the core of evolutionary biology. LÄS MER
