    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this dissertation has been to paint a more detailed picture of the organization and practice of the Board of Public Buildings during the period 1818-1917, mainly through a close-up study of four consecutive architects working for the Board. Besides analysing the practice followed by the authority and the social structure of which it was a part, the dissertation also deals with aspects of its interaction with executive regional and local clients, and the effect this mutual collaboration had on the final architectural expression.     Sammanfattning : When the Nationalmuseum opened its gates in 1866 to the public, it was the end of a process which had lasted more than fifty years. The building itself had taken more than twenty years of arguments and struggle to erect, and the debate on whether the nation needed a national museum of art had started already in the 1810s.     Sammanfattning : The present study critically examines the zealous building of 470 new parish churches in Sweden in 1850–1890; mainly replacing older churches in Västergötland, Småland and Scania; mainly new sites in Norrland. The primary source material is the church itself, meticulously examined in the fi eld and from archives, comparative analysis, the systemati-sation of formal elements and interpretation of architectural expression, characterisation of locations, plans, interiors and exteriors.     Sammanfattning : The second half of the eighteenth and beginning of the nineteenth centuries meant a reform of burial practice across Europe.
