31. Role of estrogen receptor beta in mouse prostate and bladder with references to human diseases
Sammanfattning : After the discovery of estrogen receptor beta (ERbeta) in 1995, it became clear that in many non-classical estrogen-responsive organs, were in fact direct targets for estrogen. One of these organs is prostate gland, where ERbeta is abundant in epithelium. LÄS MER
32. Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the detection of genetic alterations in prostate and bladder malignancies : significance as a genetic marker to predict the patient prognosis
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer and bladder cancer are common urological malignancies in man, while a lack of basic information underlying the oncogenesis and the tumor progression makes it difficult to form therapeutic strategies against these malignancies. Recent advances of molecular biology revealed that genetic alteration play a crucial role in the oncogenesis and progression of these tumors. LÄS MER
33. Sentinel node based immunotherapy of cancer
Sammanfattning : The tumor draining lymph node, the sentinel node, is regarded as a valuable station for staging and evaluating prognoses for patients with cancer. The object of this thesis was to investigate the immune response against solid cancers and to explore the sentinel node as a source of naturally occurring tumor reactive lymphocytes, for further activation and expansion in vitro for the purpose of immunotherapy. 34. Antibody-based immunotherapy of cancer : From optimization to novel approaches
Sammanfattning : Antibody immunotherapy is a successful therapeutic approach to treat cancer. The overall aim of this thesis is to investigate the mechanisms of antibody-based immunotherapies and the role of the tumor microenvironment in mediating the anti-tumor immune response, in order to aid the development of improved immunotherapies for cancer patients. 35. B lymphocytes in solid human malignancies
Sammanfattning : Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Modern treatments such as immunotherapy and neoadjuvant chemotherapy exhibit promising results. However better understanding of the treatments may lead to optimizations and consequently better prognosis. LÄS MER
