  1. 1. Microbial Degradation of Toxaphene

    Författare :Martha Lacayo; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kontroll av utsläpp; Miljöteknik; pollution control; Enterobacter; Environmental technology; Bjerkandera; Toxaphene; Biodegradation; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This works deals with the degradation of a group of recalcitrant compounds known as toxaphene. Toxaphene is a complex mixture of chlorinated compounds including hexa- and octachlorocamphenes, hepta-, nona- and decachlorobornanes. Some components of toxaphene are very persistent while others are degraded rapidly by both abiotic and biotic processes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fungal Redox Enzymes Involved in the Oxidation of Organic Pollutants

    Författare :Enrique Terrazas; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; Biokemisk teknik; Organic pollutants.; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Biochemical technology; Laccase; Lignin peroxidase; Manganese peroxidase; Fusarium sp. strain BOL35; Biodegradation; Bjerkandera sp. strain BOL13; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This work describes the degradation of nonylphenol, toxaphene, phenanthrene, benzo[a]pyrene and dyes using fungi and their redox enzymes. Two fungi, Bjerkandera sp. strain BOL13 and Fusarium sp. strain BOL35 were isolated from different geographic area in Bolivia. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biodegradation of the Recalcitrant Endocrine Disruptor Nonylphenol

    Författare :Ana Soares; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biofilm bioreactors; Miljöteknik; pollution control; Environmental technology; Teknik; Technological sciences; white-rot fungi; nonylphenol ethoxylates; endocrine-disrupting activity; contaminated soil; cold-adapted organisms; kontroll av utsläpp; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; biodegradation;

    Sammanfattning : Currently, over 100 high-volume chemicals have been classified as endocrine disrupters. One of these is nonylphenol, which was used as the model compound in this study. This substance originates mainly from the degradation of non-ionic surfactants (nonylphenol ethoxylates) which are widely used in industrial and domestic applications. LÄS MER
