11. The ubiquitous signal processing : Applications to communications, spectral analysis and array processing
Sammanfattning : This dissertation is concerned with statistical signal processing and its applications. The thesis consists of three parts: I) applications to wireless communications, II) applications to spectral analysis and III) applications to array processing. LÄS MER
12. Mobile Satellite Broadcast and Multichannel Communications : analysis and design
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, analytical analysis and design techniques for wireless communications with diversity are studied. The impact of impairments such as correlated fading is analyzed using statistical models. Countermeasures designed to overcome, or even exploit, such effects are proposed and examined. LÄS MER
13. Reconfigurable MEMS Antennas and Coupling Matrix Estimation
Sammanfattning : One of the demands for future wireless communication systems is higher data rates. New applications demand higher data rates and higher data rates give the service providers the possibility to offer new services. To achieve higher data rates the concept of MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) systems has emerged. LÄS MER
14. Cross-layer Aspects in OFMDA Systems : Feedback, Scheduling and Beamforming
Sammanfattning : This thesis mainly studies the downlink of a wireless multiuser system, where the transmitter has limited knowledge about the communication channels of the users. Key techniques to improve the performance of such systems are, for instance, multiple antennas, multiuser diversity and orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA). LÄS MER
15. Convex Optimization for Assignment and Generalized Linear Regression Problems
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers optimization techniques with applications in assignment and generalized linear regression problems. The first part of the thesis investigates the worst-case robust counterparts of combinatorial optimization problems with least squares (LS) cost functions, where the uncertainty lies on the linear transformation of the design variables.
