    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glycosynthase; xyloglucan; xyloglucan endo-transglycosylase; retaining glycoside hydrolase; xyloglucanase; polysaccharide synthesis; Bioengineering; Bioteknik; Enzyme engineering; Enzymteknik; Bioorganical synthesis; Bioorganisk syntes; Biomaterials; Biomaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Xyloglucans are polysaccharides found as storage polymers in seeds and tubers, and as cross-linking glycans in the cell wall of plants. Their structure is complex with intricate branching patterns, which contribute to the physical properties of the polysaccharide including its binding to and interaction with other glycans such as cellulose. Sammanfattning : HTML clipboard The great advances in DNA technology, e.g. sequencing and recombinant DNA techniques, have given us the genetic information and the tools needed to effectively produce recombinant proteins. Recombinant proteins are valuable means in biotechnological applications and are also emerging as alternatives in therapeutic applications. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Single-particle cryo-electron microscopy of macromolecular assemblies

    Författare :Kimberley Cheng; Hans Hebert; Roland Beckmann; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) was used to study the structure of three macromolecular assemblies: the two hemocyanin isoforms from Rapana thomasiana, the Pyrococcus furiosus chaperonin, and the ribosome from Escherichia coli. Hemocyanins are large respiratory proteins in arthropods and molluscs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards unbiased 3D reconstruction : in single-particle cryo-electron microscopy

    Författare :Dominika Elmlund; Hans Hebert; Sarah Butcher; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Cryo-electron microscopy of freestanding molecules (single-particles) plays a pivotal role in the difficult and pressing challenge of determining the structures of large macromolecular complexes. Molecular volumes are generated by aligning large sets of randomly oriented two-dimensional (2D) projection images in three dimensions (3D) before reconstruction is performed using tomographic techniques. Sammanfattning : Millions of years of evolution have resulted in an immense number of different proteins, which participate in virtually every process within cells and thus are of utmost importance for allknown forms of life. In addition, there are several examples of natural proteins which have found use in applications outside their natural environment, such as the use of enzymes infood industry and washing powders or the use of antibodies in diagnostic, bioseparation or therapeutic applications.
