6. Systematics of Woodsia : Ferns, bioinformatics and more
Sammanfattning : Ferns are one of the three main clades of vascular plants. They have few easily studied morphological characters, reflected in a historically unstable classification. The fern genus Woodsia is known to have a complex evolutionary history including numerous polyploid taxa and hybrids. LÄS MER
7. Diversity Underfoot : Systematics and Biogeography of the Dictyostelid Social Amoebae
Sammanfattning : Dictyostelids (Amoebozoa) are a group of social amoebae consisting of approximately 150 species, which are found in terrestrial habitats worldwide. They are divided into eight major clades based on molecular phylogeny, and within these clades are many species complexes. LÄS MER
8. Mine the Gaps : Evolution of Eukaryotic Protein Indels and their Application for Testing Deep Phylogeny
Sammanfattning : Insertions/deletions (indels) are potentially powerful evolutionary markers, but little is known about their evolution and few tools exist to effectively study them. To address this, I developed SeqFIRE, a tool for automated identification and extraction of indels from protein multiple sequence alignments. LÄS MER
9. In Murky waters : Swedish demosponges and their genealogies
Sammanfattning : Swedish Sponge fauna last updated happened over 80’s years ago. This fact explains, partially, the country’s low sponge. LÄS MER
10. Botanical Repellents and Pesticides Traditionally Used Against Haematophagous Invertebrates in Lao PDR
Sammanfattning : Haematophagous parasites and disease vectors such as leeches, ticks, mites, lice, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and myiasis-causing fly larvae are common health problems in Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). A main aim of my field work in Lao PDR in 2006-2010 was to document traditional knowledge among different ethnic groups about plants that people use to repel or to kill blood-feeding invertebrates.
