    Författare :Kristina Magnusson; Fred Nyberg; Mathias Hallberg; Santi Mario Spampinato; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anabolic androgenic steroids; Nandrolone decanoate; Substance P; Dynorphin A; KOP receptor; Prodynorphin; Radioimmunoassay; Autoradiography; Morris water maze; PCR; Central nervous system; Biological research on drug dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological Research on Drug Dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The abuse of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) is becoming increasingly common and may result in a range of physiological as well as psychological effects such as altered behavior in terms of increased aggression, cognitive dysfunction and addictive behavior. AAS comprise testosterone and its derivatives, of which nandrolone is one of the more common. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Hemorphins and endomorphins

    Författare :Katarina Sanderson Nydahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Hemorphins; endomorphins; opioid receptors; peptide metabolism; neurogenic inflammation; pain; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological Research on Drug Dependence;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two newly discovered endogenous opioid peptide families, the hemorphins and endomorphins, are investigated with emphasis on modulation of pain and inflammation. In addition, the presence of hemorphins in human biological fluids as well as the in vitro and in vivo processing ofLVV-hemorphin-7 in blood and brain is investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids and the Brain : Studies of Neurochemical and Behavioural Changes Using an Animal Model

    Författare :Pia Steensland; Christina Gianoulakis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Anabolic Androgenic Steroids AAS ; aggression; alcohol intake; defensive behaviours; dependence; opioid peptides; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological Research on Drug Dependence;

    Sammanfattning : A new group of anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS) users has developed during the last two decades. This group consists primarily of young men interested in improving their physical appearance. Within this group, AAS are sometimes used together with other illicit drugs, alcohol and nicotine. LÄS MER
