  1. 16. Engineering of Antibacterial Phage-Derived Proteins

    Författare :Fredrik Seijsing; Anders Nilsson; Yves Briers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein engineering; endolysin; IgG; linker protein; chimeric protein; artificial opsonin; spider silk; antibacterial surface; bacteriophage; structure prediction; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing threat of antibiotic resistance calls for the development of new treatment methods. Bacteriophages are interesting candidates since they can lyse bacteria with great efficiency. Bacteriophages produce enzymes called endolysins which break down the peptidoglycan in the cell wall at the end of the infection cycle. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Biological risk factors for crime : Adverse perinatal events and psychophysiology

    Författare :Sofi Oskarsson; Catherine Tuvblad; Henrik Larsson; Marianne Kristiansson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Biological Risk Factors; Crime; Criminal Offender; Biological Criminology; Adverse Perinatal Events; Psychophysiology; Psychopathy;

    Sammanfattning : Biological risk factors for crime have been largely neglected within main-stream criminology. However, a large body of research has over the past few decades converged on the conclusion that it is important to consider biological risk factors for crime, as they may help to inform theory and etiology. 3. 18. On the Effects of Blood Parasites in Wild Birds

    Författare :Peter Halvarsson; Jacob Höglund; Staffan Bensch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atoxoplasma; avian malaria; coccidia; Gallinago media; Haemoproteus; Leucocytozoon; parasite prevalence; Passer montanus; Plasmodium; recapture mod-els; survival; Biologi med inriktning mot populationsbiologi; Biology with specialization in Population Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Coccidian and haemoatozoan parasites are commonly occurring endo-parasites in wild birds and prevalence can vary among species and populations. In addition to prevalence studies, parasites are often used to investigate effects on life history traits. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Early domestication? : Phenotypic alterations of Red Junglefowl selected for divergent fear of humans

    Författare :Beatrix Agnvall; Per Jensen; Hannah Rowland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication is the process through which animals adapt to conditions provided by humans. The domesticated phenotype differs from wild ancestors in a number of traits relating to physiology, morphology and behaviour. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Organ-specific mechanisms of vascular development in the mesentery

    Författare :Yang Zhang; Taija Mäkinen; Wiebke Herzog; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lymphatic vasculature; mesentery; hemogenic endothelium; lymphvasculogenesis; endothelial integrity; platelet; blood-filled lymphatic vessel; morphogenesis and maturation; compensation;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding how the vascular systems are formed has significant clinical importance. General mechanisms underlying vascular development have been extensively studied during the past decades. However, the mechanisms regulating the development and function of the blood and lymphatic vessels in specific organs are poorly understood. LÄS MER
