    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis, caused by the pathogenic bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is one of the most widespread and deadly infectious diseases today. Treatment of tuberculosis relies on antibiotics that were developed more than 50 years ago. These are now becoming ineffective due to the emergence of antibiotic resistant strains of the bacteria. 2. 22. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Författare :Anna Reymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other. 3. 23. On the crystallization of membrane proteins in lipidic sponge and cubic phases

    Författare :Pia Jeanette Hindrichsen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; monoolein MO ; selachyl alcohol; cubic phase; sponge phase; small angle X-ray scattering; protein crystallization; phytantriol PT ;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are involved in many important biological processes and in order to understand their mechanism, their three-dimensional structures need to be elucidated to high resolution by for example X-ray crystallography. However, there is only limited structural knowledge for membrane proteins which is partly explained by the difficulties in obtaining well-diffracting crystals. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis is probably the most important process for allowing life to develop into the diverse forms we see today. In this process, solar radiation is used to convert CO2 into biomass. From this process, we obtain oxygen to breathe, sources of food (plant biomass), and the potential for clean and sustainable energy. LÄS MER
