  1. 21. Coarse detritus in oligotrophic lake littoral zones : utilization by intervertebrates and contribution to carbon flow

    Författare :Irene Bohman; Jan Herrman; Lars Tranvik; Jan Stenson; Mark O. Gessner; Högskolan i Kalmar; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Shredders; Biodiversity; Ecosystem; Limnology; Nattsländor; Sjöar; Kol; Biologisk nedbrytning; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna avhandling är att öka förståelsen av hur grovt organiskt material, sk grovdetritus, tex löv och makrofytrester, bryts ner i sjöars strandzoner. Motivet bakom intresset för detta är att små näringsfattiga sjöar i skogsrika områden ofta är beroende av tillförsel av energi utifrån och att nedbrytningen av grovdetritus är relativt lite undersökt i sjöar. 2. 22. The Competition for Forest Raw Materials in the Presence of Increased Bioenergy Demand : Partial Equilibrium Analysis of the Swedish Case

    Författare :Elina Bryngemark; Patrik Söderholm; Anne Toppinen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; bioenergy; biodiversity; partial equilibrium model; forest raw materials; market competition; Sweden; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : Growing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions have implied an increased attention to the development of renewable energy sources. Bioenergy from forest biomass is expected to be one of the cornerstones in reaching renewable energy targets, especially in forest-rich countries such as Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Navigating towards environmental impact assessment of shipping

    Författare :Anna Lunde Hermansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DAPSIR; scrubbers; metals; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; marine environment; ship pollution;

    Sammanfattning : The shipping sector exert multiple pressures on the environment, affecting climate change, human health and the marine environment. From a policy perspective, shipping is usually assessed based on the emissions to air (e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Modelling trade-offs between forest bioenergy and biodiversity

    Författare :Xi Pang; Ulla Mörtberg; Karin Öhman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, biodiversity is declining due to loss, fragmentation and degradation of habitat, which undermines ecosystem functioning and therefore threatens also the ability of ecosystems to supply ecosystem services. Moreover, there is a need for adapting to climate change as well as securing the supply of energy, which have led to a shift in energy consumption from fossil fuel to renewables, especially biomass, which in turn put increasing pressure on ecosystems and biodiversity. 5. 25. Livestock, feed production and land use – an environmental assessment

    Författare :Yaw Sasu-Boakye; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; partial equilibrium modelling; land use impacts; livestock production; soya beans; life cycle assessments; ecosystem services; protein feeds; feed substitution;

    Sammanfattning : The use of land for agriculture contributes substantially to today’s global environmental challenges such as climate change, water and land degradation and biodiversity loss. Today, about 38% of the ice-free land surface on earth is used as agricultural land, with about 75% of agricultural land used to produce feed for livestock. LÄS MER
