1. Factors that Influence the Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) Test : Steps towards the Standardisation of BMP Test
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) has gained increasing attention nowadays as an approach for both waste treatment and renewable energy generation. Currently, many different types of materials can be used as feedstock for biogas production via AD process, but their biodegradability (based on methane yield, BDCH4) and potential to produce biogas might vary significantly, and these properties are key parameters that should be taken into consideration for economy, design and operation of a full-scale biogas plant during the selection of potential feedstock. 2. Developments in Feedstock Analysis and Process Control for Biogas Production
Sammanfattning : A sustainable treatment of organic wastes, generation of renewable energy, reduction of green house gas emissions, limiting the eutrophication and closing the nutrient cycles are several environmental challenges for which anaerobic digestion may be a suitable solution. There is today a large amount of available organic waste materials that could serve as potential feedstock for biogas production. LÄS MER
3. Syngas production by integrating thermal conversion processes in an existing biorefinery
Sammanfattning : The use of carbon from fossil-based resources result in changes in the earth’s climate due to emissions of greenhouse gases. Biomass is the only renewable source of carbon that may be converted to transportation fuels and chemicals, markets now fully dominated by traditional oil supply. LÄS MER
4. Evaluation of process parameters and treatments of different raw materials for biogas production
Sammanfattning : The anaerobic digestion process results in the production of biogas from a large diversity of organic residues, which can be used as an alternate source of energy generation and for waste management. However, the biogas production technology is not exploited efficiently due to the characteristics of raw materials, poor methane yields, process instability, limited raw materials and lack of knowledge about the process. 5. When and why is pre-treatment of substrates for anaerobic digestion useful?
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) plays a key role in the recovery of renewable energy, in the form of biogas, and nutrients from waste materials. Pre-treatment of AD substrates has the potential to improve process performance in terms of increased methane yield and solids reduction, but pretreatments are not yet widely implemented into full-scale AD systems.
