21. Adsorption behaviour of bottle-brush and block copolymers at solid-liquid interfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis was spurred on by needs of current scientific and technological developments in the area of surface modification by use of adsorbed polymer layers. The importance of surface properties of polymer layers can be imparted in a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications like lubrication, colloidal stability, detergency, and protein resistant surfaces, to just mention a few. 22. Influence of fibre modification on moisture sorption and the mechanical properties of paper
Sammanfattning : Fibre modification might be a way to improve the performance of paper, to increase its cost competiveness and enable new paper-based products to be developed. Therefore, the influence of fibre modification (with polyelectrolytes or by fibre cross-linking) on the mechanical properties of special importance for packaging paper grades was studied. LÄS MER
23. Behaviour and design of adhesive joints in flexural steel members bonded with FRP laminates
Sammanfattning : The use of bonded CFRP laminates to strengthen and upgrade existing structures has attracted a great deal of attention during the past two decades. The superior mechanical properties of CFRP laminates, such as high strength and stiffness, excellent fatigue properties and good durability characteristics, have made them a suitable alternative to steel plates used in traditional strengthening and repair methods. 24. Functional Fibers for Biomedical and Thermal Management Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the integration of electrospun polymeric structures in two fields; fibrous scaffolds as cell culture substrates for biomedical applications and fiber carrier networks in metal matrix polymer composites as thermal interface materials in microsystems. Electrospinning has been found to carry great potential for a range of future biomedical engineering applications. LÄS MER
25. Social participation, social capital and socioeconomic differences in health-related behaviours. An epidemiological study
Sammanfattning : Abstract OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate whether psychosocial resources explain socioeconomic differences in smoking cessation and its maintenance. METHODS: A subpopulation of 11,837 individuals from the Malmö Diet and Cancer Study interviewed in 1992-94, age range 45-64 years, was investigated in this cross-sectional study. LÄS MER
