  1. 1. Studies on the Bcl-2 Family of Apoptosis Regulators in the Nervous System

    Författare :Susanne Hamnér; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Bcl-2; Bcl-w; Bad; Apoptosis; Nervous system; Cerebellar granule cells; Sympathetic neurons; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Developmental Neurosciences; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Apoptosis is a type of cell death with a specific morphology and molecular program, which is essential for the development of the nervous system. However, inappropriate cell death has been implicated in several neurodegenerative diseases. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects of pathological apoptosis in the immature brain after hypoxia-ischemia

    Författare :Ulrika Hallin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :neonatal; rat; brain; hypoxia-ischemia; necrosis; apoptosis; calpain; caspase; Bcl-2; Bax; mitochondria; calcineurin.;

    Sammanfattning : The cause of mechanisms underlying perinatal brain injury is not fully known, but it results in a wide variety of neurological impairments in the affected children. When injured, neurons of the newborn brain are prone to undergo programmed cell death, apoptosis, since this genetic program is normally activated in some cells during development of the nervous system, even in the perinatal period. 3. 3. Mechanisms of survival and maintenance of Hematopoietic Stem Cells and Multipotent Progenitor Cells

    Författare :Richard Karlsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; hypoxia.; forkhead; Akt PKB; Bcl-2; apoptosis; Flt3; FL; c-kit; KL; cytokines; Hematopoiesis; progenitor;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells are maintained in the bone marrow microenvironment, where factors including soluble and membrane-bound cytokines influence the processes of self-renewal, proliferation and differentiation. Two nonreduntant cytokines with effects on hematopoiesis, Kit Ligand (KL) and Flt3 Ligand (FL), signal via related tyrosine kinase receptors, c-kit and Flt3. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of Apoptosis in Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells: Involvement of Different Signaling Pathways

    Författare :Maria Kraft; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytokines; apoptosis; cell cycle; c-Kit; Flt3; Flt3-ITD; Akt; Bcl-2; FoxO3; mouse; hematopoiesis; progenitor;

    Sammanfattning : Proliferation, differentiation, and survival of hematopoietic stem cells and multipotent progenitor cells are regulated by cytokines and cell-cell interactions. Kit ligand (KL) and Flt3 ligand (FL) have pleiotropic effects, promotes survival, but are nonredundant. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Apoptosis And Excitotoxicity In The Death of Cultured And Grafted Dopaminergic Neurones

    Författare :Gabriele Schierle; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ac-YVAD-cmk; MK-801; flunarizine; N-methyl-D-aspartate; voltage-dependent calcium channels; Bcl-2; caspase; excitotoxicity; apoptosis; tyrosine hydroxylase; dopamine; Parkinson s disease; intracerebral transplantation; Poly ADP-ribose polymerase; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past two decades, grafting of embryonic nigral tissue has developed into a feasible therapeutic strategy for Parkinson's disease (PD). It has become apparent that the degree of restoration of dopaminergic neurotransmission by the transplanted cells is highly correlated to the symptomatic relief. LÄS MER
