  1. 1. Studies on early cellular responses during Epstein-Barr virus infection

    Författare :Xinsong Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The human gamma-herpesvirus Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of a broad spectrum of lymphoid and epithelial cell malignancies. A characteristic property of the virus is the capacity to establish a non-productive growthpromoting infection in B-lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immune moldulatory effects of intravenous immunoglobulin in vitro and after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation

    Författare :Sven Klaesson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IVIG; IgG; F ab 2; Fc; immune modulation; T cell responses; Bcell responses; cytokines; bone marrow transplantation; infections; CMV; graft-versus-hostdisease;

    Sammanfattning : Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) has been used in patients with immunodeficiencies and various autoimmune diseases. Its immune modulatory effect is well documented. In allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT) IVIG has been used to reduce the incidence of infections and graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional role of T-cell activation in viral hepatitis

    Författare :Jessica Nyström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HBV; HCV; HBcAg; NS3 4A; HBsAg; T-cells;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis B and C (HBV, HCV) constitute global health problems and there are approximately 350 million chronically HBV infected people around the world, most of them are found in East and South East Asia and Africa. Worldwide there are 170 million HCV infected individuals with the highest prevalence seen in Egypt. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms for B-cell lymphoma development and progression studied by global gene expression profiling

    Författare :Gustav Arvidsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare hematopoietic malignancy characterized by frequent relapses and poor survival, partly due to minimal residual disease, whereby a subset of malignant cells, harbored in protective niches, survive treatment. In vitro and ex vivo experiments have shown that MCL cells can be rescued from apoptosis through interactions with non- malignant cells such as stromal cells. LÄS MER
