  1. 1. Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling in risk assessment - Development of Bayesian population methods

    Författare :Fredrik Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; methyl chloride; dichloromethane; toluene; styrene; uncertainty; intra- individual variability; risk assessment; physiologically based modeling; Markov chain Monte Carlo; PBPK; Bayesian; population modeling; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : In risk assessment of risk chemicals, variability in susceptibility in the population is an important aspect. The health hazard of a pollutant is related to the internal exposure to the chemical, i.e. the target dose, rather than the external exposure. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bayesian Modeling of Directional Data with Acoustic and Other Applications

    Författare :Jalil Taghia; Arne Leijon; W. Bastiaan Kleijn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Directional statistics; directional distributions; axial distributions; von Mises-Fisher distribution; complex Watson distribution; complex Bingham distribution; Bayesian inference; probabilistic modeling; variational inference; two-dimensional hidden Markov models; Markov chain; blind source separation; frequency domain BSS; underdetermined BSS; online BSS; Bayesian recursive; gene expression data; gene-microarray data; line spectral frequency; speaker identification. ii;

    Sammanfattning : A direction is defined here as a multi-dimensional unit vector. Such unitvectors form directional data. Closely related to directional data are axialdata for which each direction is equivalent to the opposite direction.Directional data and axial data arise in various fields of science. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bayesian Modeling of Conditional Densities

    Författare :Feng Li; Mattias Villani; Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bayesian inference; Density estimation; smooth mixtures; surface regression; copulas; Markov chain Monte Carlo; Statistics; statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis develops models and associated Bayesian inference methods for flexible univariate and multivariate conditional density estimation. The models are flexible in the sense that they can capture widely differing shapes of the data. The estimation methods are specifically designed to achieve flexibility while still avoiding overfitting. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring and modeling response process data from PISA : inferences related to motivation and problem-solving

    Författare :Erik Lundgren; Hanna Eklöf; Inga Laukaityte; Per-Erik Lyrén; Samuel Greiff; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; response processes; large-scale assessments; motivation; problem-solving; computational modeling; Bayesian modeling; didactics of educational measurement; beteendevetenskapliga mätningar;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores and models response process data from large-scale assessments, focusing on test-taking motivation, problem-solving strategies, and questionnaire response validity. It consists of four studies, all using data from PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) data. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Study Design and Dose Regimen Evaluation of Antibiotics based on Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modelling

    Författare :Anders Kristoffersson; Lena Friberg; Mats Karlsson; Pernilla Lagerbäck; Otto Cars; Stephan Schmidt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :pharmacometric; optimal design; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; PKPD; resistance; antibiotics; modeling; time-kill curve; colistin; meropenem; ciprofloxacin; non-linear mixed effects models; bayesian; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Current excessive use and abuse of antibiotics has resulted in increasing bacterial resistance to common treatment options which is threatening to deprive us of a pillar of modern medicine. In this work methods to optimize the use of existing antibiotics and to help development of new antibiotics were developed and applied. LÄS MER
