  1. 1. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus

    Författare :Stefan Schmuck; Per Brunsell; Thomas Jonsson; Jakob Svensson; Laurie Porte; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ECE; Bayesian; Fourier transform; spectroscopy; joint inference; length-scale; Gaussian process; microwave diagnostic; JET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis applied to LWR neutronic and thermal-hydraulic calculations

    Författare :Augusto Hernandéz Solís; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensitivity analysis; Nuclear best estimate codes; uncertainty analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The deterministic modeling of LWRs begins with the computation of energy‐collapsed and homogenizedmacroscopic cross‐sections by means of a lattice code. Once these parameters are functionalized as a functionof the reactor state variables and discretized in space, they are used as input variables by core simulators inorder to calculate the spatial distribution of the neutron flux and thus, the spatial distribution of the power. 3. 3. On the Impact of Phase Noise in Communication Systems –- Performance Analysis and Algorithms

    Författare :Rajet Krishnan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oscillator; phase noise; sum-product algorithm SPA ; random matrix theory; variational Bayesian method; massive MIMO; symbol error probability; maximum a posteriori MAP detection; constellations; extended Kalman filter EKF ; maximum likelihood ML detection; mutual information; multiple-input multiple-output MIMO ; factor graph; free probability.;

    Sammanfattning : The mobile industry is preparing to scale up the network capacity by a factor of 1000x in order to cope with the staggering growth in mobile traffic. As a consequence, there is a tremendous pressure on the network infrastructure, where more cost-effective, flexible, high speed connectivity solutions are being sought for. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Variational Inference of Dynamic Factor Models

    Författare :Erik Spånberg; Pär Stockhammar; Gebrenegus Ghilagaber; Sune Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamic factor models; variational inference; missing data; nowcasting; expectation maximization; statistik; Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : When we make difficult and crucial decisions, forecasts are powerful and important tools. For that purpose, statistical models can be our most effective aid. Ideally, these models can incorporate large sets of multifaceted data. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Children's Social Emotional Competence : Advances in assessment and practice

    Författare :Sarah Thomas; Laura Ferrer-Wreder; Lilianne Eninger; Petra Lindfors; Kyle Eichas; Kim Schonert-Reichl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social and emotional competence; empathy; moral development; early childhood care and education; Preschool and Kindergarten Behaviour Scales PKBS ; Sweden; Pakistan; Social Competence Scale - teacher version SCS-T ; Structural Equation Modeling; Bayesian factor analysis; psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this dissertation was to examine associations between different facets of children’s social emotional competence in culturally diverse samples. Specifically, I explored associations between relationship skills (i.e., cooperation, listening skills, turn-taking, seeking help), social awareness (i. LÄS MER
