  1. 1. Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor : modelling

    Författare :Raul Rodriguez; Luis Moreno; Olle Wahlberg; Gunno Renman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; wastewater; anaerobic treatment; modelling; UASB reactor.; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic treatment is widely used around the world as a biological stage in both domestic and industrial wastewater-treatment plants. The two principal advantages of anaerobic over aerobic treatment are the production of biogas, which can be used as fuel, and the lower rate of biomass production, which results in lower maintenance costs for the plant. 2. 2. Cation adsorption properties of substituted kraft fibres : an experimental and thermodynamic modelling study

    Författare :Ola Sundman; Lars-Olof Öhman; Per Persson; Janne Laine; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kraft fibres; Donnan equilibria; ion exchange; acid base properties; potentiometric titrations; thermodynamic modelling; NPEs; GaAl12 7 ; EXAFS; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Acid/base and metal ion adsorption properties have been investigated for a range of chemically modified bleached Kraft fibre materials (pulps). The studies were performed via potentiometric titrations, Flame Atomic Absorbtion (and Emission) Spectroscopy, Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy and Extended X-ray Absorbtion Fine Structure measurements. 3. 3. Molecular Pharmacology and Structure Function Modelling of the Leukotriene B4 Receptor BLT1

    Författare :Alan Sabirsh; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Pharmacological sciences; fluidity; redox; chemotaxis; luciferase; calcium; ligand binding; point mutation; modelling; antibody; BLT1; leukotriene; pharmacology; GPCR; G-protein; receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes are membrane derived bioactive lipids that play an important role in immune responses by initiating and maintaining the inflammatory responses. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) released at the site of an inflammatory response attracts, activates and prolongs the life of leukocytes and lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hepatic Disposition of Drugs and the Utility of Mechanistic Modelling and Simulation

    Författare :Erik Sjögren; Hans Lennernäs; Scott Obach; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatic disposition; pharmacokinetics; mechanistic modelling; drug-drug interactions; enzyme kinetics; Vmax; Km; CLint; carrier-mediated transport; active transport; modelling; in vitro-in vivo extrapolation; physiologically based pharmacokinetic model; optimal experimental design; experimental optimization; data analysis optimization; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The elimination of drugs from the body is in many cases performed by the liver. Much could be gained if an accurate prediction of this process could be made early in the development of new drugs. However, for the elimination to occur, the drug molecule needs first to get inside the liver cell. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cyclic Sulfamide HIV-1 Protease Inhibitors : Design, Synthesis and Modelling

    Författare :Anna Ax; Anders Karlén; Anders Hallberg; Tommy Liljefors; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; AIDS; HIV; protease inhibitor; aspartic protease; molecular modelling; 3D-QSAR; CoMFA; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Ten years ago, the first protease inhibitor targeting the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was approved for clinical use. Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), which combined protease and reverse transcriptase inhibitors, quickly became the standard therapy for treating patients infected with HIV and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
