  1. 1. Influence of paper properties and polymer coatings on barrier properties of greaseproof paper

    Författare :Henrik Kjellgren; Gunnar Engström; Lars Järnström; Lennart Stolpe; Torbjörn Helle; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Greaseproof paper; Barrier properties; Gas barrier; Paper properties; Coatings; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Greaseproof paper has a dense structure and therefore provides a natural barrier against materials like fat and oils. The barrier is obtained by extensive refining of the pulp. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Barrier Properties of greaseproof paper

    Författare :Henrik Kjellgren; Gunnar Engström; Lennart Stolpe; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Greaseproof papers; Air permeance; Coatings; Chitosan; Oxygen Barrier properties; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The barrier properties of greaseproof paper are achieved by extensive beating of the fibres. This treatment results in high costs for energy, both as beating energy and drying energy. A full-scale trial has been performed to investigate the role of the pulp with respect to energy demand and the barrier properties of the final papers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microfibrillated cellulose : Energy-efficient preparation techniques and key properties

    Författare :Mikael Ankerfors; Lars Wågberg; Minna Hakkarainen; Paul Gatenholm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microfibrillated cellulose; microfibrillar cellulose; nanofibrillated cellulose nanofibrillar cellulose; nanocellulose; MFC; NFC; production techniques; energy efficient; gel properties; films; enzymes; carboxymethylation; carboxymethyl cellulose; CMC; mechanical properties; oxygen barrier; homogenization;

    Sammanfattning : This work describes three alternative processes for producing microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in which pulp fibres are first pre-treated and then homogenized using a high-pressure homogenizer. In one process, fibre cell wall delamination was facilitated with a combined enzymatic and mechanical pre-treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of plasticizing and crosslinking on the mechanical and barrier properties of coatings based on blends of starch and poly(vinyl alcohol)

    Författare :Asif Javed; Lars Järnström; Henrik Ullsten; Peter Rättö; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Citric acid; Glycerol; Polyethylene glycol; Barrier properties; Starch; Mechanical properties; Polyvinyl alcohol; Adhesion; Cross linking; Extrusion coating; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decades, intensive research has been carried out in order to replace oil-based polymers with bio-based polymers due to growing environmental concerns. So far, most of the barrier materials used in food packaging are petroleum-based materials. LÄS MER
