  1. 1. The effect of radiolysis of BTBP type molecules on distribution ratios

    Författare :Anna Fermvik; [2008]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radiolysis; transmutation; partitioning; BTBP; solvent extraction; lanthanides; actinides;

    Sammanfattning : Partitioning and transmutation of spent nuclear fuel enables a decrease in the long term radiotoxicity and volume of the waste to be disposed. By transforming the long-lived nuclides into shorter-lived or even stable ones, the time required for a final repository to be regarded safe for the environment can decrease from 100,000 years to less than 1,000 years. 2. 2. Radiolytic Degradation of BTBP type Molecules for Treatment of Used Nuclear Fuel by Solvent Extraction

    Författare :Anna Fermvik; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transmutation; lanthanides; degradation; solvent extraction; actinides; radiolysis; BTBP; partitioning;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear fuel that has been discharged from nuclear reactors is highly radiotoxic and must be kept isolated from the biosphere for very long time periods. This requires an advanced final repository. One way to decrease the long-term radiotoxicity and thermal load of the used fuel is Partitioning and Transmutation (P&T). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Diluent and Solvent Effects in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Systems based on bis-triazine-bipyrididine (BTBP)-class Ligands

    Författare :Elin Löfström Engdahl; [2012]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Used nuclear fuel; Density; Solvent; Extraction vs. time; BTBP; GANEX; Liquid-Liquid Extraction; Interfacial tension; Diluent;

    Sammanfattning : Used nuclear fuel taken directly from a reactor is radiotoxic for mankind and its environment for a long time. One of the major contributions to the long time radiotoxicity is the presence of a group of elements called the actinides. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Investigations of Solvent Systems Based on bis-triazine-bipyridine (BTBP) - class Ligands for the Separation of Actinides from Lanthanides

    Författare :Teodora Retegan; [2009]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diluents; solvent extraction; side groups; actinides; complexes; lanthanides; BTBP;

    Sammanfattning : Shortages of fossil fuel and other political movements contributed to the nuclear energy “renaissance”.Nuclear energy, however, is not free of challenges, one of them being nuclear waste management. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of a Solvent Extraction Process for Group Actinide Recovery from Used Nuclear Fuel

    Författare :Emma Aneheim; [2012]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Partitioning; Solvent Extraction; Fission Products; TBP; BTBP; GANEX;

    Sammanfattning : When uranium is used as fuel in nuclear reactors it both undergoes neutron induced fission as well as neutron capture. Through successive neutron capture and beta decay transuranic elements such as neptunium, plutonium, americium and curium are produced in substantial amounts. LÄS MER
