  1. 1. Strategies to explore the membrane proteome of a cell

    Författare :Gianluca Maddalo; Leopold L. Ilag; Peter James; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane proteins; Proteomics; Escherichia coli; Enterococcus faecalis; Synechocystis; Mass Spectrometry; BN SDS-PAGE; FT-ICR-MS; Myelin P2 protein; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The cell envelope plays key roles in numerous processes such as maintaining cellular integrity, communication with other cells, signal transduction, maintenance of cellular homeostasis, and regulation of the traffic of molecules between the cell and the extracellular milieu. Essential membrane components in many of these processes are proteins. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Membrane Protein Biogenesis in Escherichia coli : A proteomics approach

    Författare :David Vikström; Jan-Willem de Gier; Eitan Bibi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SRP; YidC; SecE; Membrane protein biogenesis; protein targeting; 2D BN SDS-PAGE; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : In the bacterium Escherichia coli all proteins are synthesized in the cytoplasm. However, at least 25% of them then need to be exported to another cellular compartment where they exert their function. E. coli has several different targeting pathways to ensure the correct localization of its proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Protein interactions in signaling networks in Arabidopsis

    Författare :Simone Schopper; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Protein networks drive numerous crucial processes in cells. One important component in their coordination is protein-protein interactions. Mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling substrates and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins in Arabidopsis were investigated with respect to their respective interactions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A model for membrane organization and protein sorting in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

    Författare :Tatiana Pisareva; Birgitta Norling; Colin Robinson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Cyanobacteria constitute a unique group of eubacteria, possessing outer and plasma membranes as well as internal thylakoid membranes, the site for both photosynthesis and respiration. The combination of sucrose density centrifugation and two-phase partitioning methods leads to purification of different membranes from the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of chloroplast development during the greening process

    Författare :Yan Ji; Åsa Strand; Eevi Rintamäki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; light response; anterograde signalling; plastid transcription; chloroplast development; photosynthesis; bZIP; PEP complex; de-etiolation; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Upon light exposure, the expression of one-third of the nuclear-encoded genes is changing, including genes encoding many chloroplast-targeted proteins responsible for the initiation of plastid transcription and the establishment of photosynthesis. The control of the nuclear-encoded genes involved in the development of chloroplast is referred to as anterograde signalling. LÄS MER
