  1. 1. Molecular Pharmacology and Structure Function Modelling of the Leukotriene B4 Receptor BLT1

    Författare :Alan Sabirsh; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Pharmacological sciences; fluidity; redox; chemotaxis; luciferase; calcium; ligand binding; point mutation; modelling; antibody; BLT1; leukotriene; pharmacology; GPCR; G-protein; receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes are membrane derived bioactive lipids that play an important role in immune responses by initiating and maintaining the inflammatory responses. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) released at the site of an inflammatory response attracts, activates and prolongs the life of leukocytes and lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development and application of monoclonal antibodies in studies of the human leukotriene B4 receptor, BLT1

    Författare :Annika Pettersson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serologi; transplantation; Immunologi; Immunology; serology; antibodies; BLT1; LTB4;

    Sammanfattning : Infection and inflammation are characterized by the release of chemotactic substances that activate cells of the immune system. One of these important mediators is LTB4, an arachidonic acid derivate that attracts e.g. monocytes and granulocytes to inflammatory sites and induces phagocytosis and degranulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chemoattractants as causative agents, biomarkers and therapeutic targets in vascular pathology

    Författare :Yuri Sheikine; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :atherosclerosis; coronary artery disease; restenosis; chemokines; eicosanoids;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis and restenosis are driven by chronic immune response in the vascular wall. This involves cell migration into and within the vessel wall, cell proliferation as well as accumulation of lipids in the vessel wall. These processes are mediated, among other substances, by molecules belonging to a large family of chemoattractants. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The nuclear factor k[kappa]B signal transduction pathway : its role in atherogenesis and intimal hyperplasia

    Författare :De-xiu Bu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atherosclerosis; intimal hyperplasia; NF-kappaB; NGAL; Telomerase; Leukotriene B4;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular inflammation is a hallmark of major cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, and also suggested as a critical component implicated in intimal hyperplasia. Given its central role in regulating expression of inflammatory genes, the nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) signal transduction pathway was postulated to play an important role in these pathological processes. 5. 5. Biosynthesis and biological role of leukotrienes in B lymphocytes

    Författare :Yilmaz Mahshid; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes (LT) are potent lipid mediators, synthesized from arachidonic acid (AA) upon cell activation. The essential enzyme for leukotriene biosynthesis is 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO), converting AA, through a two step process to LTA4. The activity of 5-LO is dependent on 5-lipoxygenase activating protein (FLAP). LÄS MER
