6. Neuroprotection and axonal regeneration after peripheral nerve injury
Sammanfattning : Following microsurgical reconstruction of injured peripheral nerves, severed axons are able to undergo spontaneous regeneration. However, the functional result is always unsatisfactory with poor sensory recovery and reduced motor function. LÄS MER
7. Recurrent laryngeal nerve injury
Sammanfattning : Injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve is accompanied by a poor functional recovery of the target organ, the larynx. For the patient this means impairments of vocal fold mobility and various kinds of voice disorders. LÄS MER
8. Development of an Anisotropic Finite Element Head Model for Traumatic Brain Injury Prediction
Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a worldwide health care problem with very high associatedmorbidity and mortality rates. In particular, the diagnosis of TBI is challenging: symptomsoverlap with other pathologies and the injury is typically not visible with conventionalneuroimaging techniques. LÄS MER
9. Systemic hypothermia after spinal cord injury : An experimental study in the rat
Sammanfattning : Spinal cord injury following trauma results in suffering for each individual independent of the severity of the neurological deficits. Care of the acute spinal cord injured patients has developed from the purely conservative treatment advocated 20-30 years ago to today's active strategies. LÄS MER
10. Cell activation and nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve injury
Sammanfattning : The effect of short time vibration exposure and tourniquet compression on nerve regeneration in rats was studied with special reference to cell activation. One of the hindlimbs was conditioned by either vibration exposure (5 hours / day - 5 consecutive days) or compression (150-300 mmHg for 30-120 minutes), which was followed by a recovery period of 0-7 days.
