  1. 6. Generation of Leachate and the Flow Regime in Landfills

    Författare :David Bendz; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; teknisk geologi; Hydrogeologi; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; model; transport; flow; leachate; water; hydrology; landfill; MSW; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental impacts of landfills are associated mainly with the emission of leachate and biogas. Sanitary landfilling aims to stabilize the landfill in a efficient and controlled way, so that the environmental impacts are minimized. When a sanitary landfill has attained its final storage quality, it can be integrated into the environment. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Influence of Sea Surface Temperature on Rainfall and Runof in Northeastern South America: Analysis and Modeling

    Författare :Cintia Bertacchi Uvo; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kartografi; marklära; geomorfologi; Fysisk geografi; climatology; pedology; cartography; Physical geography; geomorphology; sea surface temperature; rainfall-runoff; Amazonia; precipitation; Northeast Brazil; klimatologi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : This work represents an amalgam of a group of studies with the purpose of understanding the influence of the Pacific and Atlantic sea surface temperature on precipitation and river discharge in Northeastern South America. Sea surface temperature is a good representative of phenomena such as ENSO that, in turn, cause worldwide climate variability. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Transport of Arsenic and Heavy Metals to Lake Poopó - Bolivia Natural Leakage and Anthropogenic Effects

    Författare :Maria Garcia Moreno; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogeology; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Miljöstudier; Environmental studies; Poopó Lake; heavy metals; Bolivia; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : Bolivia, a country located in the center of South America, has in the west part an Andean region, where the Poopó Lake is located. The area has many mineral resources, and thus since thousands of years,mining activity has had a large importance; however, mainly since colonial times, the extraction of these resources has been indiscriminate and the region of the Poopó Lake, has suffered the consequences of environmental contamination. 4. 9. Rainfall-Runoff Modelling Using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs)

    Författare :Aman Mohammad Kalteh; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Self-organizing map; Feed-forward multilayer perceptron; Forecasting; Hydrological modelling; Missing values; Rainfall-runoff modelling; Estimation; Artificial neural networks;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools for modelling hydrological processes such as rainfall-runoff processes. In most studies, ANNs have been demonstrated to show superior result compared to the traditional modelling approaches. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Environmental impact of peat mining : Development of storm water treatment methods

    Författare :Bjørn Kløve; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; drainage artificial floodplaines; phosphorus; suspended solids; nitrogen; erosion; peat mining; peak runoff controll; sedimentation; water treatment; water resources; hydrology; hydraulics; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Drainage of peatlands increases the transport of suspended solids (SS) and the leaching of nutrients to downstream receiving waters. Increased settling of peat and eutrophication of lakes has been noted in many studies downstream from peat mines. LÄS MER
