  1. 1. Regulatory Control of Autumn Senescence in Populus tremula

    Författare :Edlund Erik; Stefan Jansson; Paul Dijkwel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Aspens; Girdling; Anthocyanins; Arginine; Autumn Senescence; Cytokinins; Populus tremula; Asp; Ringbarkning; Antocyanin; Arginin; Höstlöv; Cytokinin; Populus tremula; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : Autumn senescence is a visually spectacular phenomenon in which trees prepare for the oncoming winter. The mechanism for regulation of autumn senescence in trees has been very hard to pinpoint. In this thesis the main focus is to investigate how autumn senescence is regulated in aspens (Populus tremula). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Constructing a timetable of autumn senescence in aspen

    Författare :Johanna Keskitalo; Stefan Jansson; Howard Thomas; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Populus tremula; autumn senescence; senescence-associated genes; cellular timetable; transcriptional timetable; cDNA microarrays; EST sequencing; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During the development and lifecycle of multicellular organisms, cells have to die, and this occurs by a process called programmed cell death or PCD, which can be separated from necrosis or accidental cell death (Pennell and Lamb, 1997). Senescence is the terminal phase in the development of an organism, organ, tissue or cell, where nutrients are remobilized from the senescing parts of the plant into other parts, and the cells of the senescing organ or tissue undergo PCD if the process is not reversed in time. 3. 3. Plant phenology in seasonal environments

    Författare :Elsa Fogelström; Johan Ehrlén; Johan P. Dahlgren; Arthur Weis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Autumn phenology; Cardamine pratensis; evolutionary ecology; heritability; herbivore preference; fitness components; flowering time; growing season length; life-history; Lathyrus vernus; natural selection; population differentiation; phenology; spring phenology; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Phenology, or the seasonal timing life-history events such as emergence, reproduction and senescence will determine the outcome of interactions between plants and both abiotic and biotic aspects of the environment. Such timing is therefore of utmost importance for plants in seasonal environments. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) – a high-yielding energy crop

    Författare :Thomas Prade; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Bioenergy is currently the fastest growing source of renewable energy. Tighter sustainability criteria for the production of vehicle biofuels and an increasing interest in combined heat and power (CHP) production from biomass have led to a demand for high-yielding energy crops with good conversion efficiencies.
