  1. 1. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Molecular Imaging Studies of Pathophysiology

    Författare :Gustaf Tegler; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Jens Sörensen; Lars Norgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; AAA; Positron emission tomography; PET; Molecular Imaging; Pathophysiology; Autoradiography; Angiogenesis; integrin alphaVbeta3; FDG; 18F-FDG; 11C-PK11195; 11C-D-deprenyl; [18F]fluciclatide; Fluciclatide; Bukaortaaneurysm; Molekylär bilddiagnostik; Patofysiologi; PET; Autoradiografi; Angiogenes; Surgery; Kirurgi; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Sammanfattning : The pathological process behind abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation is poorly understood and difficult to study. The aim of the thesis was to study the pathophysiology of AAA formation with positron emission tomography (PET) technology, a molecular imaging technique, allowing in vivo studies of pathophysiological changes. 2. 2. Preclinical Molecular Imaging using Multi-Isotope Digital Autoradiography - Techniques and Applications

    Författare :Anders Örbom; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoradiography; Radioimmunotherapy; Antibodies; Molecular Imaging; Multi-Radionuclide Imaging; Silicon-strip detector;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular imaging, both in vivo and ex vivo, is playing an increasingly important role in preclinical medical research. When using radionuclide-labeled tracers, e.g. in the development of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging or for radionuclide therapy, quantitative in vivo imaging can be performed using emission tomography. 3. 3. The optic tectum of the salmon:site of interaction of neurohormonal photoperiodic and neural visual signals. The GABAergic neuronal system and melatonin receptors

    Författare :Marie Anzelius; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal anatomy; melatonin receptors; GABA; optic tectum; fish; brain; animal morphology; Djurs anatomi och morfologi;

    Sammanfattning : Melatonin is a neurohormone which mediates photoperiodic signals from the pineal organ to the brain. GABA (g-aminobutyric acid) is the major inhibitory transmitter in the central nervous system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms of stretch-induced growth and contractile differentiation in vascular smooth muscle

    Författare :Asad Zeidan; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; SM22a; ERK1 2; caveolae; stretch; Smooth muscle; differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular smooth muscle can adapt to increased intraluminal pressure by remodelling and hypertrophy, as seen in hypertension. The molecular mechanisms responsible for this are still incompletely characterized. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) as a multimodality imaging probe for sentinel nodes : Design and Preclinical Evaluation

    Författare :Renata Madru; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :iron oxide; nanoparticles; SPIONs; PET-MRI; SPECT-MRI; SPECT-MRI- optical imaging; sentinel lymph node; SNL;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer and malignant melanoma disseminate through the lymphatic system and the first metastases arise in one or two regional, sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) draining the primary tumour site. Therefore, identification and characterization of the SLNs is of major importance for cancer staging and for choice of therapy in patients. LÄS MER
